What are you talking about? I have never heard anything like that.

A lot of boards don't actually have an option for no spread spectrum, the minimum/AUTO setting being 0.01%, which is responsible for the tiny reduction in BCLK. The actual BCLK setting is the maximum, so a +- 0.01% range means a minimum, and reported BCLK of 99.98MHz.

Gigabyte's BIOSes in particular are bad about this.

You should have binned.

Buy three processors, and three motherboards.
Cherry pick the combination with the highest bus speed.
Use that return policy.

its nothing to worry about.

And now you have, but not with your own eyes.

I have pretty sure I have OCD and demand that my bus speed be bang on 100.00, if not drives me crazy, e.g. other motherboards that I have used which fall short of 100.00 bus speed, when shooting for 4000MHz, then end up with 3996MHz or something similarly less, is really annoying like that.
Lucky the Asus board I have can keep my personal flagship processor right on 4.2GHz, if it was anything less than it would be 4.1xxGHz, sorry cant have it like that. It does fluctuate slightly on the core speed a tiny amount about .01 up and down, but generally stays right on .00, in any case all good. The Bus Speed is reported on 100.00 at all times.

There are people out there that want to see on CPUz that the clock speed it right on (or in a super tiny faction of it), even if really in the background it is not perfect and monitoring software maybe report it.

What about the speculation that if you BCLK is not exactly on 100 then you are unstable, even if you overclock but 1MHz. Would the same be true is under-clocked by 1MHz. I have read that if the BCLK is not the right on 100MHz than the attached devices internal clocks are still running at 100MHz and cause a delay latency with the discrepancy of the clock speed. Don't know if this is true of not, but I don't bother to overclock by an extra 3MHz on the BCLK, just in case this might be true.
