Need Help Building Conroe Rig - 2k Budget

Thread Starter
Hello everyone. My friend is looking to purchase a new conroe rig, mainly for poker, and it will need a good CPU and RAM to handle many poker clients at once, plus a fairly heavy GPU for dual 20.1" widescreen output and a bit of gaming. He wants a conservative case, no lights, no window and as quiet as possible (will also need a suggestion for quiet HS), I was thinking the Centurion, but I'm open to suggestions. Finally, he needs HD space, I was thinking two Seagate Barracude 7200.1, but not RAID because with the amount of gaming done, it would just be regular storage. No overclocking will be done on this computer, and I would like a rock-stable Conroe motherboard, crashes are completely out of the question on this rig.

So this is a $2,000 CANADIAN budget (tigerdirect/ncix/canadacomputers only please) for just the case, psu and everything inside.
All suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

NiK

Edit: Actually, this build does not have to be Conroe, a Pentium Dual Core would be fine, and would allow for 4GB of RAM, which might be more helpful, but I'm not totally sure.

4GB RAM is way too much overkill for today's software. I only use about 1.5gb when gaming with apps open in the background, so it's not a problem.

$2000 is about £870 here, so.. my build cost £600, so let's go from there

The X1950 Pro is an amazing card for the price - it has dual-dvi output and is powerful enough for them.

2GB ram is basically a must these days.

The 7200.10 sounds like a good idea. Obviously it would be a lot faster in a RAID0 configuration but that's up to you

For the cooler, I highly recommend a Tuniq Tower 120. They're the best Air cooler around right now, but are very rare.

If you can't find one at all, go for a Big Typhoon or a Scythe Ninja/Infinity.
