As you can see Lepa is a mix of CWT / Enermax / HighPower and Yue-Lin Electrical Technology
I ordered the kingwin lazer lz 1000 watt 80+ bronze these are the only kingwin lazer lz 1000 watt power supplies that can be found on the internet at this time . amazon does not carry the lazer platinum or the lazer gold not even 3rd party sellers are carrying those models

thanks but I have another question . when looking up kingwin power supplies on real hard tech.com on the graph next to the kingwin lazer lz 1000 watt 80 + bronze it says max power on the 12 volt rail is 960 watts does this mean the kingwin lazer lz 1000 watt 80+ bronze is only a 960 watt power supply ?

Yes it means it will only output 960w max on the 12v rail, the other 40w is somewhere else such as the 3.3v or 5v rail. In the 2 EVGA PSU's ive owned and the corsair ive owned, they advertise their PSU as a 1000w it means 1000w 12v rail and the other rails aren't added into the total.

beside's a 660 don't really count haha tongue.gif
My 660 is OC'd to 1228MHz, is folding 24/7, and depending on the WU, sits between 85% and 95% TDP according to GPUz. it doesn't not count.

Here: I pulled out the kill-a-watt the other day and took some measurements.

power consumption @ plug unless specified:
in bios: 250W
All idle OS: 200W
CPU folding SMP-10: 320W
CPU prime95 small FFT: 355W
7970 folding 8900 wu:325W
7970 mining:420W
6950 mining:400W
660 folding 8018 wu: 315W

Normal running-config 1:
7970 mining, 6950 mining, cpu folding, 660 folding:
870W AC*.87 = 756W DC

Normal running-config 2:
7970 folding, 6950 mining, cpu folding, 660 folding:
805W AC*.87 = 700W DC

so I have 100-150W of headroom to play with. i'm solidly in the 80% range for capacity. I also bought a PSU that jonny guru sang high praises of, so pushing it past 50% load does not keep me up at night.

He's good stuff. here's the review I like to thump:
http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=197

is this the one you're looking at?
http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=168
or is it another model?

The reason you can't find an LZ-1000 on Amazon is because KingWin doesn't even have them.

I just RMA'd my SECOND LZ-1000, but this time I was contacted by KingWin asking if I would accept a Mach 1 replacement (MUCH older model, screw twist modular cables).

The reason I have an LZ-1000 is my original Mach 1 blew. I decided to give KinWin another chance. STUPID ME. The LZ-1000 I ordered blew 3 months after install (luckily no data was lost and no other components were fried). The replacement they sent blew four months later. I tried to RMA that unit, and I was told the unit is no longer available and they want to send me the same PSU I purchased back in 2009. Fantastic, right?

So, the answer to the original question: NO. The LZ-1000 is ABSOLUTELY NOT a good PSU.

I bought my Kingwin 1000watt Lazer almost 4 years ago and it has been running almost 24/7/365 all this time and I have had zero issues with it. I like it a lot and everyone keep s complaining about power usage.. I really dont see why. Keeping a computer running 24/7 maybe makes a $5 dent per month on your power bill as long as it is active pfc.. My power bill for my apartment is seriously less than $20 per month all year round. The lowest ive had it is $12.75 biggrin.gif

Anyways my point is that it is a fine power supply and should power two cards no problem. An 850watt would do the job too but the kingwins are so cheap why the hell not am i right? thumb.gif

For the record, I'm not complaining about power usage. I'm complaining that it has FAILED COMPLETELY twice. Now KingWin has discontinued the entire series (just spoke with the RMA department, who are sending me the older Mach 1 series since there are no more Lazers available).

I actually just read through your whole post and I dont know if you were trying to run to much? or not using a surge protector? or what but this power supply is definitely more reliable than you are giving it credit for.

Either that or you just have the worst luck known to man thumb.gif

A single NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260. 5x WD 750GB Blue (data). Samsung 840 SSD (os). i7 950 @ 3.07GHz CPU. Gigabyte P6T7 WS MOBO with 12MB RAM. 2x DVD writers. APC Smart UPS 1500VA RackMount Battery Backup SUA1500RM2U.

Nowhere near enough draw to pop 3 separate 1000 watt PSU's.

These are not stable power supplies and I would advise others to stay away from them.
