Hello Overclock.net! I've been a lurker for a while. I decided to document my new PC build! This will be my second build! Unlike my first build, performance AND aesthetics are equally important in this build. The color scheme will be black, blue, and white.

Parts List pcpartpicker

CPU - Intel Core i5 4670k [ordered] [received]

CPU Cooler -Corsair h100i

Memory - 2x4gb G.Skill Ripjaws X 2133mhz (Blue) [ordered] [received]

Motherboard - ASUS Sabertooth z87 [ordered][received]

Case - Corsair Obsidian 650D [ordered] [received]

SSD - Samsung 840 Evo 120gb [ordered] [received]

HDD- Seagate Barracuda 1tb 7200 [ordered] [received]

HDD- Seagate Barracuda 2tb 7200

Video Card - EVGA Geforce GTX 780 ACX (Dual Bios) [ordered] [received]

PSU - EVGA NEX 750g (I know, I know.) [ordered] [received]

12/29/13

Began sleeving cables. (Practiced on old PSU yesterday and day before)

PSU purchased on Cyber Monday for $79. Figured it was a steal as it's modular and 80+ Gold and has all the wattage I need plus room for a second 780 if I ever happen to get one.

My ghetto cable sleeving setup. Candle, staples, scissors, a box cutter, and paracord are my basic tools. I also have a round molex remover which doubles as a tool to make nice straight edges on the paracord.

Here are the colors I chose for the paracord, Colonial Blue and White.

24-pin ATX cable ready to sleeve.

Heatshrinkless paracord sleeving.

My progress after about 2 hours. Sleeving is a slow process if you don't have all the right tools.

Finally finished the 24-pin cable! This took a full 12 hour day to do (including meal breaks.)

That's all for today. My video card should get here tomorrow. I plan on sleeving a little bit more.

Guess what came in the mail today?!

Extremely excited

Seal appeared to be tampered with, should I be worried?

Card appears to be NIB but I was kind of set back by the broken seal.
As a bonus, I got my Molex ATX Pin extractor today!

Didn't get any sleeving done because some unexpected plans came up. My fingers needed a break anyways. Also my payment for my motherboard on Newegg was declined for some reason and it won't let me update my payment information. I'm trying to get in touch with Newegg to fix it. Luckily I live ~ an hour away from a Newegg warehouse so their "free shipping" gives me two-day shipping. I hope to have my motherboard by the end of the week.

That's all for today, but I may stay up late tonight to get some sleeving done. I'm going to paint the red PCI-E connectors black instead of red to fit the color scheme.

Ended up ordering my motherboard from Amazon after Newegg failed to contact me after 48 hours. It shipped today! I still need my CPU cooler and extra HDD but I'll have all the parts to get the build up and running once the motherboard gets here.

I decided that the red PCI power cable connectors didn't match my build, so I painted them black.

Sanded down the connector then painted it with Rustoleum. Rustoleum is really glossy, a little too glossy for my taste. Oh well, at least the color will match my color scheme.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I'll sleeve the rest of my cables today and my motherboard should arrive tomorrow. After that I can put together my PC!

Thank you. I hope the paint doesn't rub off inside the graphics card female connector.

Me neither. That would suck. As long as you make sure it is dry, and I mean DRY, it should hopefully be fine.

My motherboard arrived! Ready to assemble the computer.

Unbox that CPU!

Installed CPU very carefully.

Pretty blue RAM.

External build all hooked up for testing.

It worked! Had 1 small CPU fan error but it was fixed by setting the minimum fan limit to "ignore" rather than 600. My CPU temps are fine right now but I'll be getting a h100i soon so that I can overclock.

Case is ready.

Blurry shot of motherboard, RAM, CPU and CPU cooler installed in case.

Mounted my SSD on one of the drive cages.

Sleeved cables look fancy wink.gif

The cable management bothers me a little bit so I'll work on that more tomorrow.

Windows 8.1 Pro Installed! Also gotta finish sleeving the PCI cable. The red one looks so out of place right now :\
