Video/Codec problem?

Thread Starter
For some reason, all of a sudden, I can't watch videos on my comp (avi, ogm, mkv, anything). I can get sound a lot of times, but no picture.

Anyone know why this might be?

I have the Combined Community Codec pack and Defiler Codec pack installed, as I do on my other computers, but they arn't fixing the problem.

Help!

Have you tried using VLC player? While I'm not a fan of the player itself, it'll tell you if the problem is codec related. If it plays with VLC, just remove all your codecs and get the K-lite codec pack. I use that pack along with Media Player Classic and I have never had a problem.

Well, I uninstalled a bunch of crap, which didn't help. Then I decided "hey, its a new comp anyways, just reformat and reinstall XP.. but before that, I might as well try a system restore, if I havn't turned it off..." and it worked. I went back a day, and it works.
