First successfull OC!

Thread Starter
Hey all,

I first registered here back in Dec. after completing my very first build (see below) after having some intial problems with OC. To be quite honest, I knew very little of what a BIOS or CMOS were, much less the tactics involved with OC.

Well, after spending some time reading guides and cluttering your board with frantic posts - I thought my MB + C2D friend no less than 15 times - I am back to report some nominal success.

I say nominal because, while it's tough not to be pleased with 3.4GHz, it pales in comparison to some of the massive OC's I've seen here.

I realize that an OC is not valid unless a screen shot is posted, yet I can't seem to figure out how to do it. Please advise.

Btw - I'd like to thank some OCN members for pointing the new guy in the right direction, including Stargate, Belmont and a few others whose names I can't recall. Much obliged!

Man! That's a great OC! I'm glad you're getting the best out of OCN. Now just help other people out as well!

Download and install the program CPU-Z. Run the program, then go to the about tab, hit validation, and then follow the directions, its really simple. You can also just open CPU-Z and take a screen shot of your monitor by pressing the prtscn button, then opening paint, pasting it with ctrl+v, saving, and posting it as an attachment.

As for the 3.4, thats a really nice OC. While you see alot of people around the boards with massive overclocks, the majority of them only use those massive overclocks for benchmarking. My CPU for example is capable of 4.0+, however, it requires me to throw 1.48+ volts at it, and the temps get far too high for my normal ambient. I run my proc at 3.4 24/7 because I can do it on stock volts, and my load temp stay below 50, win win, not as though anything really needs that much speed right!

Thanks! There are some things I haven't touched yet, so I think I can go higher; the temps were just mighty high, so I'll until the Tuniq arrives next week.

If you would like to show us a screenshot, download CPU-z and take a screenshot by hitting then prtscr button on your keyboard. Then paste it in paint, save as jpg and upload using imgfly or fileshack.
