So it's fine to just remove it without asking then? why not sort out the DRM so it doesn't have to "call home" if that was the issue OR allow them to play the rest of the game just can the online. I mean damn software pirates circumvent online checks with ease but you can't tell me that the software programers who WROTE the game can't do this?? Or not use centralized servers that you just know will be shut down as soon as profits drop/next game in the series is out. Hell i could still load up Quake 3 Arena right now and play the single player probably without issue how old is that!

Will people be refunded the original cost of the software being as it's effectively been "stolen" from them....... NO i doubt it! When i buy something i expect it to work FOREVER granted the online play modes might not get support BUT i sure as hell expect to be able to play singleplayer mode 'till Hell freezes over. Not because some "suit" decides the margins ain't worth it.... It was worth it when you pimped that stuff to me and took my money.

Take back your software or make it unplayable = Give me back my money OR something of equal value.

Thanx.

Then i'm afraid i would use ANY means i had to to use the software illegal or not. But i get what you mean about the EULA. I just don't care what it says (not trying to be funny:D). I paid for something = MINE whatever "they" think "they" will do. If a company continues this practice i will not purchase there software OR just steal it (just being honest may upset some that's not my intention). If they don't respect me as a PAYING customer after they spend my money on hookers and blow:D.

I don't respect them enough to continue paying them tbh. When i hand over cash for something it stops being "theirs" and becomes MINE. I don't in a year or two get to say "hey *insert random software house* i've played your stuff it was cool BUT i want my money back now" So they don't get to stiff me the same imho.

Thanx.

Actually, you never own the software... the only thing you own is some physical media. You are essentially leasing the game itself.

So... emm, it doesn't become "yours".

You can play Single Player. It's only multiplayer that was removed. You've never owned software, this isn't any different than it was 10 years ago. Software is never yours.

Stealing software is never right, period.

I can think of a number of legitimate reasons (and not just the demo or crap DRM arguments) for piracy but that is for another time. Anyway, you have never owned the software. Period. You own the disc and the packaging, nothing more. You can use what you PURCHASED, i.e. the physical media, until hell freezes over, but you can use what is LICENSED, i.e. the software, to you only under the terms of the EULA. EULAs being the contract saying you have no rights and we are responsible for nothing when you install this.

They'll probably put it up again once they edited the game so the game E.T. phone home to Steam's servers instead of SE's old ones.
