AMD FX-8120 CPU + GA-970A-UD3P weird temperature issue - Page 2

That makes alot of sense. I think it's a long list of minor issues which are adding up to a moderate problem.
The silicone compound i believe is conductive, should i try to get a non conductive compound ( I'd like to avoid wasting 20$ on Arctic silver since i'm moderately sure that won't make a major difference)

but the heatsink being clogged a tad by the paste, the heatsink possibly being misalligned, the AMD turbo being possibly on and there might just be extra heat generated so i might try to get a new cooler. Not sure about liquid cooled yet i only have a mid tower case and i dont have money for either a new case or to put into liquid cooled. (Between buying a new GTX 650 TI BOOST and my new Gigabyte board i'm a tad broke tongue.gif).

But thanks everyone for your thoughts this has given me alot to try and i will be back in a day or two with results smile.gif

Hello everyone sorry it's been a few days but I have resolved the issue. Oddly enough, It was the bios. The CPU Unlock feature was on and set to auto, in the OS i used CPU-Z to see what my clock speeds were and they were nuts, anywhere from 900mhz all the way up to 4ghz, which would be a pretty massive OC, being that my CPU stock speed is 3.1GHZ. But i sincerely wish to thank everyone who posted on here to help me resolve the issue smile.gif I hope in time i can return the favor and help others with their computer issues.

just wanna point out i have the same board with a fx 8320 and a better cooler oc'ed to 4.8 ghz be very carefuly with the extrem llc on your board it can cause instability and extra heat and the usb 3.0 controller will have your proc load 20% even in idle

I didn't even think about the USB controller causing issue good observation. For now even my most intense programs, my temps haven't reached above 55 or so but i might fiddle with bios settings.

I have solved this problem with the usb 3.0 controller. It seems that the controller is NOT the issue. The issue comes from windows. I figured this while running linux that I did not see any load while the 3.0 controller was enabled. So after some digging, The Stilt over at Xtreme Systems customized a windows 7 x64 iso specifically for amd systems i have tested it and activated it with my own key the key is and will not be included but does have a 30 day grace this version is by far the best version of windows i have tested thus far and more stable with amd chipset and driver 0 issues with my 3.0 controller and drivers I recommend you try it and also look into The stilts bulldozer conditioner rev 1.0.2. i my slef am running a 8320 4.8 ghz llc medium on 1.6 volts 100% stable I suggest not to use extreme llc, hpc, apm, and for me what worked also played a huge roll in performance was maxing out my cpu pll to 3.13v
