Starter build (commander snow-edition) STOPPED

Since about 2 months now i'm using a desktop again. But i'm already tired of looking at and working on the current case (a cheap Cooler Master knock off). So i decided to buy a Thermaltake Commander MS-I Snow Edition case. Also i'm going to upgrade my pc a little with more memory and better cooling. Maybe later even overclock the damn thing.

My old case (the knock off)

The chipset was getting too hot, so i replaced the original heatsink with a larger one. I had to drill a hole in the heatsink, but at least it fits now.

But even then he's still getting hot enough to bake an egg. So i took an old Atari card and took of the fan and mounted it on the heatsink.

The case i've orderd.

Any suggestions, questions or comments are always welcome.

Updates coming soon!

I'm excited for you. Could you give me your specs? Also, if you are looking to overclock look into a better heatsink.

The specs are;
CPU- Intel i5 4430 3.00 GHz (quad core)
Memory- Transcend 4GB 1600 MHz
Motherboard- GIGABYTE GA-H87M-HD3
HHD- 2x Western Digital (green) 1x 1TB 1x 2TB

The memory will soon be upgraded.

The CPU cooler will also be upraded when i start overclocking. And the chipset heatsink will be replaced when i find one that fits.

Cool. I assume you don't game much considering you don't have a GPU?

I'm not much of a gamer so I don't really need one. But since I run CAD and other design software i'm considering to buy one.

That would definitely be a worthwhile investment. I hope you don't plan on overclocking your CPU too much, because that model is basically "locked" You might get it up another 200 Mhz though...

As long as it looks ''cool'' and cools good i'm happy.

Today was my accesspoint and RAM supposed to be delivered but I haven't seen anything yet. frown.gif
Hopefully it'll come tomorrow with my case.

Btw, I decided like most of us on here to sleeve the cables. But now I can't decide what colors sleeve to use.
Should I go with;
- black and white
- white and uv blue
- white and uv green
or
- ... and ...?

The original chipset heatsink. mad.gif

Black and white is my vote because it will match your new case perfectly. thumb.gif

I was just looking for some ''mood lighting'' and found red and green spots. So I think i'm going to get the green ones.
Just to make the room a little less plain. tongue.gif
