Guidance On Pushing The Overclock Of My 900e?

Well I am going to keep this as simply as possible.

Recently after tearing my primary system down (now my secondary), when removing the heat sink from my 965BE it managed to rip the cpu from its socket whilst the pressure lever was still applied. This bent a small section of pins and with my poor eye sight I really could not find much a way to fix it. So, I had to default back to my AMD Phenom 2 X4 900E chip as 965's are relatively hard to come by now-a-days. Regardless, when trying to overclock this chip past 3Ghz it simply will not even post into windows, it states the overclock was bad upon the mobo boot screen.

So, before we begin checking the usual culprits I will tell you my current set-up and findings.

Current settings and mobo model:
(sorry for the horrid cell-phone quality pics)

As for my hardware set-up, VRM's are not an issue as I have them under heatsinked cooling as well as an active 80mm at all times. My CPU idle's at 26C and under Prime95 load maxes out at 39C. There is plenty of airflow in the case as well as said airflow being positive pressure. My NB is also actively cooled by a 80mm fan at all times.

You may also view the stock characteristics of the chip here: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AMD-Phenom%20II%20X4%20900e%20-%20HD900EOCK4DGI.html

So from multiple sources around the web, though the chip states it's max tdp is 67W it has been able to be pushed dramatically past that and within very stable limits. ALSO, the multiplier maxes out at 12x so I am currently using an FSB of 240Mhz to achieve this overclock. So what gives? Is this just an FSB wall? Or can I push things just a little bit further trying some other settings?

Thanks again guys, thumb.gif

Is that actually set at 1.25v for CPU Vcore? You have a lot more headroom to bump it up a bit.

Even with VRM heatsinks I would take care not to push it too crazily.

It won't push past 3GHz with 1.25 Vcore? Not surprising. Default is 1.35v for most Phenom II chips. I remember needing at least 1.4v for hitting beyond 3.8GHz on most of my chips...

I had tried 1.325 with no success on breaking the wall. So I brought it down to the minimal stable voltage. I'll try 1.35 but seeing as this is a "e" series chip I'm not sure how far I should push it regardless of the safe temps. Any input?
