PSU Cooling Needs

Thread Starter
I have an OCZ GamerXStream 600W PSU that has a single 120mm fan in the "top". Will the holes in the plate intended to support the PSU be sufficient to allow then necessary air through (see below)? While I am guessing that is why they are there I am not certain and would hate to risk overheating the PSU. The mesh and hole just to the left happens to be for a 120mm fan so you can get an idea for the scale of everything.

I saw to flip it. Even though they will hurt air flow, it will still let air flow through your psu. Although if it has room above the psu then leave it, It will allow max air flow, and suck out any excess warm air.

I'm starting to think I will just gut the plate. The mobo is in just for trial wire fitting anyway and I am going to be puting some acces holes and whatnot in the mobo tray so what is a little more dremel work if you are already making a mess, eh? There is plenty of room on top, even vent slots in the back panel, but I would like to use the area if possible for wire management, plus it is a better position for where the wires come out of the PSU.

I have to quit staying up this late...getting up in the morning to go to work is no fun.

Hmm I see what you mean. Then more it and stick a fancy grill over it to cover the cut.

Oh and btw, that back vent, if its the same as my v1200, works really well. I can feel the heat coming from my graphics card coming out of it.
