You folks that just take what they are giving you and smile are a sad sad bunch, you probably have the NSA eyetoy & peasantbox in your house as well( oh yeah I forgot you have nothing to hide right rolleyes.gif). Season Passes, Early Access(to an extent), DLC all this stuff is pure trash, take a step back and compare it to other industries/fields whats going on is not sustainable. I've lost count on the # of games I've purchased over the last couple of years that launched with issues or was ever fixed in time for me to enjoy. SWTOR for example they may have fixed all the issues from launch but I'd have no clue cause I was a "Founder" and the 1st month was terrible so I left to never return. What happened to finished game with an exp. pack maybe a year after with patches in between the exp. packs? at the least we could do that but no lets drop BF4 and A MONTH later lets drop some DLC that like others have said splits the community. 1 month after BF4 launch and there is a DLC are you freakin kidding me the game doesn't even run well let aone let me play for longer than an hour before CTD and you're shoving DLC with a seasonpass ontop for me to play with my friends, I'm done with this ish, DONE.

There are games that aren't even out yet and already talk about DLC. That is completely ridiculous.
There are fine examples of DLC done right out there (eg Skyrim), but the 90% of the time it's just cheap moneygrab cancer.

exactly if they will not give us mod tools then you wait 2 years so the game is in a well run and then throw some dlc some campaings or expansions like total war II do but when the game is at nearly end cicle not one moth when realesed.

The unofficial patches often end up fixing more bugs, and sooner than the official patches do. Look at Bethesda's games for example.

TES, Fallout, Saint's Row, Civlization and GTA are examples of big mutha franchises that at least allow "unofficial" modding. (I say that because it's only GTA, and even then it's more Rockstar know the community will do it either way and just stay completely silent on the matter since the Hot Coffee, before that they've stated that they love the modding scene. The rest of them all either have modding tools or Steam Workshop support)

That's not to mention Team Fortress, Half Life, Chivalry, Company of Heroes, Portal, ARMA III, Killing Floor, Total War Rome II, Torchlight II, Total War Shogun 2, Europa Universalis IV, Serious Sam 3 and Orcs Must Die among others that also have Steam Workshop support...Plenty of games and their devs allow it and support it, only some are against it typically because they (wrongly) think that it'll cut into DLC sales when in reality, most players just love having even more content. (eg. I have Falskaar and Moonpath to Elsweyr installed among others in my Skyrim install...Didn't stop me buying Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn though.)

Also, notice how the games that tend to last the longest are the ones with massive modding scenes? I still see the occasional new copy of Oblivion, Morrowind, GTA San Andreas, Simcity 4 Deluxe, etc being picked up for PC probably due to the modding scene being so active and keeping the games fresh, can't say the same about some much more recent titles.

...DayZ?

While it hasn't launched new series' as often as it used to, some mods are simply amazing: SAMP, Moonpath to Elsweyr, Falskaar (I believe the author was even hired to work on games) and some of the better Minecraft ones like Aether, Thaumcraft, Ars Magicka 2, etc to name but a few amazing ones.

I'd be fine with it, Skyrim with mods still feels funner and fresher than most of the games that came out in 2013 to me. Hell, even GTA San Andreas with a few mods installed is more enjoyable than Crysis 3 is to me, by far and it came out in 2005 and is no-where near C3 graphically even with as many graphics mods as it can still function with.

That's sad, but honestly, I wasn't holding out much hope for the game anyway. After all, it is an EA title. But this pretty much seals the deal for me.

You "PC Master Race" people make me sick. There is no "console crowd".
Most people who own consoles also own PCs because they like both.
It's all gaming.

Not giving out mod tools is a stupid excuse, they USE those tools to make the game with it. Also we are talking about a source engine game, which means that is an even bigger bull, as source has probably the best mod compatibility out of any engine. Why do you think all these games made with source engine end up using Steam Workshop the same day with people releasing incredible mods for it? Because Source SDK is really easy to work with and you could put pretty much anything in a game that uses source.

This makes me sad.

A brilliant game is coming out for PC, but you guys are now turning away from it despite NOT even playing it because of the off chance it MIGHT NOT have mod support.

Really?

Skyrim, Just Cause 2, Saints Row 3 + 4, Arma 3.

Next question?

It's an EA game. I wasn't planning on buying it anyway. The only game I really saw that was upcoming from the big ugly pubs (ubi, EA, activision) was the Division and we probably won't even get that until 2015.
