[MSN] Mission shortlists over 1,000 candidates for life on Mars - Page 9

yeah, and in the future if someone on the moon had severe osteoporosis or other serious health issues, we could get them back fairly quickly.

not only is mars around 7 months away, you have to wait for the right time in its orbit to make the leap back... and Mars has a ~2 year solar orbit so they'd be stuck waiting on Mars for a huge amount of time just to get the solar system back in an alignment where a trip back is even possible. Then you also have to give those returners supplies for their trip back... another few months...
etc

but like i said its the long term stuff thats really problematic... you cant really plan ahead for health issues we can't fix in space atm

If they volunteer and they sign the "Yeah, you're gonna die, it's just a matter of HOW" waiver, then they can go if someone is willing to send them.

i thought the mission involved one way trips, instead? did they change that to accommodate some part of the mission plans?

they would send the first group to build a center for living and study, then in the mean time another team will be sent with supplies and fresh astronauts.

unless of course, they found a stargate, or befriended Riddick on one of his random murder sprees. or discovered the ancient alien tech underground that gives mars an atmosphere...

To be honest it is about time we started ruining another planet. We're humans, it's what we do.

Well unless we actually discover an eco system on Mars...it is kind of hard to ruin a rock with little atmosphere. I don't think we can hurt it much.

How are they planning the whole policing themselves aspect? Mars is pretty ambitious. Why not the moon first?

I heard this project is secretly being funded by the History Channel and H2. Supposedly the goal of this project is to create the H3 channel which will focus on Mars Alien 24/7/365!

I would go if the rest of the crew were all women, then i can put my claim to fame - all martians have evolved from my tadpoles and will become a super race biggrin.gif
