Need a bit of help with my OC

Thread Starter
So I just bought a Pentium D 805 for cheap and was OCing it, i run into some problems while running graphic intensive games. My OC seems to be fine and prime 95 stable on both cores for at least 15 hours, regardless the system seems to just randomly restart while playing games involving DX 9.0c. I'm quite confused on too what is causing this, because heat does not seem to be the issue. I've heard that it's perhaps my ram, which i don't believe because of the quality of the ram. My thoughts were under load i didn't think there was enough power (Antec Neo Power 500watt). If any of you can give me some help that would be great.

It would help if you told us how far you OCed it to, what dividers you're using and other stuff.

If you didn't/can't lock your PCI-e, then that might cause you some problems if you OC; remember, when you OC the FSB, everything gets OCed. Lock PCI, PCI-e and use dividers as necessary.

If your RAM is running too fast for it to handle, you could run into problems there. Try memtest86 or whatever that thing is called.

15hrs. prime stable sounds good, so it must be something else.

Edit: omg, your avatar is MegaMan X!!

My PCI-X is locked at 100mhz the default as for dividers i think it's 4:3 what's important though is that the ram is not overclocked more than like 20 mhz so i would imagine that wouldn't be a HUGe issue correct?

It really depends what kind of RAM you have. The RAM i have won't OC past 220, only 20MHz. But at 215 or so, it's fine.

So i'm still having problems here getting a stable OC, it will be stable for awhile BUT playing games (note: not very graphic intensive games CS 1.6) the comp will restart randomly. Is this just a stability issue, or is this a power issue?

Trying for that OC of about 1.2 ghz (3.8ghz) would be great. Any ideas to what else i can add or do to make this happen?
