"Why would anyone even need 4GB of VRAM?"

...says the single monitor user.

"LOL!"

...says the triple-monitor user.

7680x1440 hogs vram on some games, but im back to 2560x1440 for now since i was having problems with a few of my games, i can definitely see the need for more vram, but most users arent even past 1920x1080 yet tongue.gif

Nvidia has no inclination whatsoever to price any GPU below the magic formula of (AMD equivalent+$100). The bloody miners have skewed the market on so many levels. If I was a business, which Nvidia is, I wouldn't price this GTX 790 below $1000.

[Sarcasm] But lets hope they have benevolence to price it at $800, in which case I'll but it at site [/Sarcasm]

Actually, $1000 is a fair price. 780s cost $500 each and dual GPUs have cost that much in the past. For a dual what is essentially a 785, that's a good price.

Your right - 1080p is still mainstream - gets me why hardocp only uses 2560x1440 in his tests.

And even the best cards were just scraping very good fps at 1920x1080 - max eye candy. So 2560x1440 still seems a lost in my eyes using 1 card only redface.gif

The VRAM count seems all weird to me, I expect 6 or 12 GBs (2 x 3GBs or 2 x 6GBs) but Nvidia has made some weird things before with vram and bus size. Other then that I would of guessed using 2 770s but it looks like they'll use some weakened version of a 780. It's going to have to be weakened, the 690 was easy to manage because 680s were relatively power friendly but GK110 can be a power hog.

770 = 680 2.0 FYI. They're the exact same thing. This is a pair of buffed 780s or nerfeds Titan, pick one, on a single PCB. Dual GPUs are a bit better with that whole power usage thing than singles.
