I want a mind reader ui, not a movement based ui. But in the present, why would you choose this over a mouse or controller based ui that allows you to do the same thing more precisely and in a less tiring way, and that is also simply less limiting.

I think in the near future what we are likely to see is a weird hybrid/traditional controller or mouse ui. And that's just going to be awkward, like w8

i definitely see your point. these VR interfaces are in no way destined for giving you a competitive edge or making you better at the games themselves. They are solely aimed at immersion and and realism. I see these types of technologies being of major important for RPG or sim games like Star Citizen. imagine using eye tracking to control where you look in your cockpit of your ship. or has been pointed out before with the depth of field comments. if anything this is going to make you "worse" at the game you are trying to play but I do think that if done right it will make the game feel more natural and in some cases more fun.

I agree that you would be absolutely crazy to try and use this for every game you have as it would be exhausting. but for maybe an hour or two a day it could be truly special. I would say that VR right now is in its absolute infancy. in 3-5 years time I think that we will be at the stage where we can just start to make or buy complete VR solutions that combine things like the Tobii, Rift, Omni, Hydra and others to make a pretty unique and sweet experience and I for one can't wait.

I heard the NSA is secretly the primary investor behind this product and they will use it to not only now see what web page you are on but also where on the web page you are looking. This will allow them to better target their backdoor virus installers to everyone.

Honestly I used to be so obsessed back in high school, with getting the latest and the best...spent ALL the money I made from work, then I grew up, went to college, had to pay my own way through and now I am satisfied with what I have, but more so because nothing truly new or innovative has been released.

The next thing I have a feeling I'll have that obsession with is virtual reality equipment if it ever goes viral.
