I disagree, my hyperX isnt crappy but has heatsinks.
As for the heatsinks over the heatsinks. Why not?

Dude... only crappy ram has heatsinks? hahaha biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif:D biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

You must be kidding.. so my Corsair vengeance is crap. Or any other med/high end ram... On the contrary, only good rams have heatsinks.

I'm asking, if you bought RAM with no heatspreader (Or heatsinks, whatever you wanna call them)
Would you grab these for aesthetic reason. Honestly, I would. I got one of them to fill out my eBay bucks certificate (that and a Hyper 101a)
If they look good in person I'll probably get 3 more blue ones, 2 black and 2 gold one. At that price, why not.

Blue- http://www.ebay.com/itm/190970699631?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

NO Idea why black is so much more expensive.

black but, i don't think rams needs it, also low profile ram doesn't fit. EDIT: Samsung wonder ram is the best overclocking there is and it does not need heat sinks.

This review: link shows an 8GB, 1.65V, 2133 MHz HyperX T1 made from Hynix 1333 MHz (H9 speed grade) chips:

You may have gotten lucky, but except for old RDRAM and Samsung's first generation DDR3 modules, no good modules have heatsinks on them. Otherwise heatsinks are just marketing hype, like spoilers on street sedans, and hide the moral shame that the modules were built from slow or even substandard grade chips. In the case of some Corsair Vengeance modules, the chips were both slow and substandard grade, as indicated by these photos of an 1866 MHz Vengeance featuring Spectek ("refurbished") 1333 MHz (grade "-15E") chips

Micron indicated they didn't screen their Spectek chips with the same expensive machines they use for their Micron branded chips. IOW chips that failed testing with those expensive machines were sent over to the Spectek division. OTOH Corsair Dominator uses prime brand chips but slow ones.

Heatsinks on memory modules are as functional as this:

Aesthetics. It's not all about performance. PC building is also a hobby to many of us. Custom sleeving a power supply takes long hours, so when you get done with that ugly memory modules can ruin the theme.

I was gonna water cool my modules just because I hated the red color they come in. Before buying the blocks, sandblasted the red paint off, removed stickers and lasered graphics into the black aluminum. Now I don't feel the need to get water blocks on them.

Just because you don't care, no one else should care or bother with how their PC looks. Gotcha.

The black modules look sexy. That OZC cooler might ruin your PC lol

I think it looks great just the way it is.
