P4 3.0 Northwood OC help is desperately needed...

New guy here...

Currently running the following:

P4 3.0 Northwood 800mhz FSB not sure about which version (ie C or whatever) CPU-Z says Family "F", Mdoel 2, Stepping 9, Ext. Family F, Ext. Model 2, Revision D1

Asus P4P800 Deluxe.

1GB of El' Cheapo brand RAM (Mwave.com to be sure) according to CPU-Z the manufacturer is AMD.

I can run this thing all day without any problems using the stupid "Auto" 10% settings in the MB bios (3.3ghz). I know, I know, NEVER use Auto. The problem is, when I started going manual, I could't see where to adjust the memory timings and I was a little unsure about the voltages to run on the memory.

The system became unstable at a setting of 231 on the FSB and CPU voltage of 1.625. I tried upping the voltage one more setting and it wouldn't boot. The memory timing settings on this ASUS board have only 3 settings in the bios: 266, 320 & 400. The memory voltage "reference" in the bios says 2.75 and the next setting up is 2.85.

Anybody have any experience OC'ing this guy? I have read through the OC guid FWIW. I figure it's that I either need to adjust my memory timing OR the voltage but I am unsure what's moderately safe and what is down right stupid.

Thanks in advance!

You definitely need better RAM, with heatspreaders.
