It's been shown (e.g. chiphell) to provide 44 amps (528W) comfortably and doesn't even shut itself off until 48 amps. So you can run those components, even overclocked on that PSU. With long use it might overheat and shut down, but that's because it's tiny and runs hot -- not because the electronics can't handle it.

My real issue with that video is that I have since seen so many people say a 450w PSU is enough for 4.8 GHz on a CPU and 1200+ MHz core on GPUs to people asking for PSU recommendations.

The problem that people have here is looking at clock speeds and assuming it's tightly correlated to power

He's using ~1.25v on the CPU, which is a low overclock. It's below average. Voltage is the main factor in power consumption, not frequency - 1.4v has like 1.5x the power consumption. Many people use way more power to get 4.4-4.6ghz OC's than he's using for 4.8 - it's an exceptional chip. It should be doing 5ghz on air.

The GPU is also using like 1.2v - it's not exactly being bench-pushed.

Like said, even if this was not an exceptional PSU - he's only using like 130w on the CPU with a normal, 100% load - and the GPU is using either the stock power limit or very close to it, which is like 250-270w max, maybe 300 from the PSU all other stuff aside - assuming simultaneous 100% on CPU and GPU.

A great 450w unit could >handle< it, not greatly, but it could. If this PSU is downrated, it's probably not choking

Yes, this is a real issue. I'd go-to a good 450w for a normal overclock on a Haswell quad and a single GPU below 290/780 tier - where i'd bump to 550. If somebody is nuking their hardware, etc 1.4vcore+ on 4770k and unlocked voltage+power on a 780ti, they might want a 650.

I never saw him mention that though. Assuming he did not know, I will give him a clean chit on that but my point remains- I even know a guy locally who realized a 500W PSU didn't work out for him and then he blamed TTL for it rolleyes.gif

Anyway this is off topic to the thread so I would request we stop this discussion here.

Thanks. But if I directly buy from the USA, will the warranty still be fully honored if I use it here in our country?

You will need to go through the reseller that you purchase it from because we don't sell our products from our website outside of the United States. We also therefore don't service our warranty or provide RMA support outside of the United States. You'll just need to coordinate with your reseller on getting the kit returned and replaced if you have an issue with it.

That won't work for me. Can't I buy from the US and then if ever I have problems I'll go through the official distributor of our country?

No, the distributor can't handle the RMA or warranty support if the product wasn't purchased from one of their resellers. This is the arrangement that we have with them so that they'll take care of the warranty support for their region. They wouldn't want to make such an arrangement if they had to handle products that were purchased outside of their region from resellers that they didn't do business with.

We've been pushing for a May 1st release, but it looks like that due to a slight shipping issue it might be another 5 to 7 days. I'll post an update though if this changes. We just found out about this possible delay this morning. These will be available though directly from our website. We've gotten around the patent troll so we'll be able to sell these in the US. Our new Apogee XL water blocks are already out, as are our new Komodo series water blocks for Nvidia's GTX Titan, 780, and 780 Ti. The AMD Komodo for their R9 290 and 290X will be available within the next week.
