That facebook post also mentions the MCP50x to be substantially cheaper than the 35x so that makes me wonder who the manufacturer is and how they managed to get better performance at a lower cost- where did they cut corners? heat?

Maybe, and only maybe, the MCP50X comes from themselves. I mean, the pump featured on the H220 was designed in-house... and thus this one might be, too.

Where does it say that? I don't see anything referring to cost?

Second in the lineup is swiftech's new MCP50X pump: an ultra high pressure PWM controlled mini pump with superior pressure characteristics than the iconic MCP35X. SWiftech demonstrates a comparative pressure test with a mini bench showing the MCP35X with a maximum head pressure of 4.4 M/h20 versus the new MCP50X at 5.2 M/H20, i.e. a 20% increase in head pressure for the later. Both pumps are specified with MTBF exceeding 50,000 hours.
Swiftech wouldn't comment on an MSRP yet, but it is said to be substantially lower than that of the MCP35x, and is also expected to ship end of March.

From that same facebook post with those photos.

I guess I just don't understand the appeal of flashy lights everywhere. Was going to buy 4 of their komodo blocks regardless of the VRM temp problems but they just look silly now. EK is getting my 600$ in blocks now i guess mad.gif

As I correctly prophesied in the H220 owners' club, the in-house pump on the H220 was just the first of many pumps to be made by Swiftech. They got in the electric motor business 4 years ago to facilitate the H220 and their upcoming products. The MCP50 is a high-output version of the H220's pump, which was originally designed for over 4500 rpm as posted by Gabe almost a year ago in the owners' club. They turned it down for noise in the H220. These new products look amazing and are certainly a cut above what people have come to expect from Swiftech in the past IMHO.

Some more released information from Anandtech...
Quote:
The H220X comes with a compact 2x120mm radiator and fans with an integrated high power pump, reservoir, and CPU waterblock. There’s a window as well to show the current coolant level and LED lighting. It’s shipped in a ready-to-install state with the coolant pre-filled. The expected delivery date is March 2014, with an MSRP of around $150. Prototype models with 1x140mm and 2x140mm form factors were also present but not yet ready for launch.
