So this monitor was just announced ASUS PG278Q ROG Monitor: 1440p 120Hz G-SYNC . Would it be worth waiting for this monitor?

Not really, it's a TN panel.

Ok, so whats so special about the PLS and IPS Panels that make them so great? The only 2 types of monitors Ive used are CRT (Years ago) and Im guessing TN for my current monitor.

It's not what's special about PLS and IPS. It's about what TN is missing: colours and viewing angles. I wonder why people build high end builds to be able to max graphics settings and settle with the crippling effect that TN has on image quality. Also about viewing angles I don't mean you cant see the monitor from 60 degrees: who cares. But they are so bad that you move your head an inch and the image changes.

When there are 1440p IPS that can do 120Hz I really don't understand who would buy a TN. These are panels for those that play only competitively, don't care about visuals and they are able to notice a few ms less input lag.
