Opteron 185 Overclocking Success

Thread Starter
I've upped the fsb to 224 to get 2910Mhz with stock volts and its been stable for a 18hour test on orthos. Quite a good overclock with stock volts. But I tried going straight to 3Ghz with 1.4 volts and it aint stable

Any suggestions.

what is your memory running at? Have you tried to put it on a divider then run stability test?

opty 185 is top of the line opty. different stepping than the lower ones. i'd imagine that you can't get 3 GHz w/o major voltage increase. also try to just run your ram on the divider to make sure its not causing you any stability problems.

The higher multi means you need a lower FSB to attain a higher overclock - i.e. with a 9x multi an increase of one FSB moves you up 9mhz, while with a 13x multi an increase of one FSB moves you up 13mhz.

This makes it easier to get higher overclocks, as you don't need ridiculously high FSBs - for example, to break 3ghz

thats what memory dividers are for called overclocking skillz. using high multi's in overclocking is cheating
