I'd be impressed with 20% gain with Mantle in BF4. If it's even close to 45% I'd be blown away.

Free performance means I can up the res scale biggrin.gif

ima still play at 720p(on a laptop of course)...wondering how the mobile variants will do. Hipefully near the desktops APUs. Guess i need to sell my current laptop asap

I'd be very surprised If the performance increase is 45 %. If it holds true, then we'll soon have the Ubisoft & Rockstar join in and we won't have to deal with their horribly optimized games.

To be fair it says up too which most likely means on a online game with a major cpu bottleneck which is now removed.
I stay with 20% extra gain with GCN but as this is a pilot it might be a little bit as the main selling point of Mantle is certainly the cpu independence.

I know that you know most of this, but just try to understand it again.
What you are calling CPU bottleneck is created by DirectX because DirectX specifically knows nothing about Intel, Nvidia and AMD architectures, DirectX contains additional libraries/layers to make itself compatible to all GPU technologies, but these layers require resource, and this resource is drained from CPU.

Perhaps you don't know, but OpenGL 5.0 is being developed to process up to 1 million draw calls. That should be 10x faster than Mantle, because for now, Mantle has been shown to do 100k draw calls.
And currently Nvidia is at least a generation ahead in OpenGL.

But isn't it like a cpu and a gpu part I was under the impression that the cpu part works for any cpu while the gpu part is AMD's treat but not per se Nvidia's loss.
It would be extremely sour if the cpu side gains weren't given to Nvidia. (I couldn't care less since I don't intend to buy another Nvidia card unless they are good price/perf but it still hurts for a lot of people)

It would potentially require Nvidia users to spend a lot more on a cpu just to negate the bottlenecks that the AMD gpu could overcome with an API and a cheap cpu.

Guys no word on CPU performance side?

Maybe I'm holding my expectations too high but is it possible that AMD's A10-7850K stands a chance against Intel's 4670K in CLOCK PER CLOCK battle? or you guys thing this chip is still way behind to be anywhere close to 4670K's IPC performance?

one more thing I'd like to clarify, in the second picture where it shows 270x + amd VS 270x + intel graphics comparison you may see from little to none gain? or I'm missing some point here?

because to my prior knowledge this AMD's on-die iGPU had to incorporate with dedicated GPU and result better performance? so if this the case and also as claimed AMD's on-die R7 iGPU is way better than Intel's HD 4000 this had to result much better numbers than we see in second pic? I may be wrong but correct me if I'm missing something, but in that second picture it shows that sometimes it's even falls behind of 4670k + 270x ?
