Okay, so I've decided to build my first gaming desktop. I've previously game from an ASUS G73JH, to an Alienware M14X R2. Anyways, I've asked questions about what CPU is best for gaming. This is what my build is going to consist of...

-i7-4770k
-EVGA or ASUS GeForce GTX 780 (non Ti)
-ASUS Maximus VI Hero
-Corsair 600T Silver Gaming Case
-Corsair RM850 PSU
-Crucial M4 512GB SSD (going to pull it out of my Alienware M14X)
-Corsair H100i Water/Liquid Cooler

So far, I don't have a good set of RAM to go with it yet, and a CD Drive, but what I'm asking, is will this play Battlefield 4 on ultra settings with 100+ FPS? Will this play games 3-5 years from now on ultra with no lag? I don't plan on upgrading for another few years, except maybe SLI the 780 when prices drop.

Let me know what you think of this build, and if it will play BF4 on ultra. I know fps is mainly on the GPU, but what about the CPU. Will I bottleneck at all?

Also let me know of a good set of ram to go with it. Right now, I'm looking at 8GB, then upgrading to 16, unless the price is good for 16GB.

This all comes to a little under 2 grand. About $1600. Not including stupid California taxes biggrin.gif

The CPU should be fine. My 3770k at 4.4ghz doesn't bottleneck my 780s in BF4 except on some really full maps with a lot going on.

As far as one 780 running at ultra with 100+ fps.... Probably not assuming you're talking about 1080. My pair of 780s sometimes dips to 100, so a single 780 definitely won't hold you there all the time. You should average a bit below that assuming you have a descent CPU and GPU OC, buy I wouldn't count on it holding steady much higher than 80 FPS.

You are coming from a manufactured computer to a individually built one with better components so your gaming enjoyment will benefit. You will not have a bottleneck at all, I have a i7-950 at 4gz and a GTX 770 and it runs bf4 on ultra at over 60 fps on average minus AA. Really at 60fps with a 1080 screen it will be butter smooth. The only thing I switched out of my build after 3 years was my video card. I will use Evga step up program for the GTX 780 and I think it will last another 3 years just fine

I feel completely stupid. I don't know what I was thinking when I said 100+. Lol. I know I'll get at least 60+, but I was setting the bar high. So you think it'll stay around the 80s? Thanks
