Achieva Shimian QH2700-IPSMS? Is this legit? - Page 2

Ahaha, that is funny biggrin.gif Anyway, I just realized that the Shimian I linked has a glossy screen, not too sure if I like that. I think I would prefer a Matte one. Do you consider the Qnix QX2710 or the X-star DP2710 good monitors? Or do you know of any Korean panels that are Matte and have as thin of a bezel as the Shimian?

I don't have any experience with the Korean monitors other than the one I have.

There are numerous forums easily found via Google with discussions on the others (including modding).

I personally prefer the glossy screen because colors are typically better on them, but I'd probably hate it with a window behind me.

The Qnix and X-Star can both OC to 120Hz, and their coatings are semi-glossy / semi-matte. The Shimian, if it's anything like the Crossover 2755AMG, which I believe is very likely, has a Plasma-Deposition coating.

Just looked in to it, this link says that they do have PDC. Do you know if the Shimian is overclockable? Also don't you have to have an Nvidia card if you want to OC the Qnix? Also is overclocking the monitor dangerous?

Also another thing is, would you say it is worth paying £15 more, and buy from 'dream-seller'(people say this seller has good quality stuff), or would buying from this guy be okay? Since you told me about PDC, I am 99% set on getting the Shimian.

There is no danger when OCing the Qnix/X-Star IIRC, although it does increase the gamma making colors look duller. This can easily be fixed by DLing and using an ICC profile, which can found somewhere on this forum. AMD cards should be able to OC the Qnix.

No clue if the Shimian can OC. It's likely that it can't since otherwise it would be advertised as such.

Dang! Now I am torn. I really like the look of the Shimian, but on the other hand higher refresh rate of the Qnix/X-Star.

The X-Stars are also £50 cheaper than the Qnix, both from 'dream-seller', but from what I read, they are identical. So is the price just a selling point because more people use the Qnix? (The owners club has a pie chart on how many people use which one).

The X-Star and Qnix are identical.

Just ordered the X-Star DP2710. smile.gif Can't wait till it gets here.

Do you know of any good VESA desk mounts that would fit two 27" X-stars? I am planning on getting another one in the near future (if this ends up being a good purchase). I looked around and found this Lavolta Stand that fits 2 x 27" monitors. Says they support up to two 10kg screens, the X-stars are supposed to be max 8kgs. do you know if this stand is any good?
