I recently replaced the mobo in my Dell D830 laptop and the CMOS battery while I was at it as the old one was outputting around 1.1V rather than 3+. I bought a cheapie from eBay ( without much thought; when I received it, it was reading 0V using the exposed contacts (can be seen in the eBay pick) on the plug. However, I placed it in the laptop and it has no trouble retaining BIOS settings. I can;t read CMOS battery voltage from my mobo using software or the BIOS, so I can't tell exactly what is going on. I just noticed that the seller advertised it as rechargeable; does this have anything to do with it? I'm a bit baffled as to whether I should contact the seller or if it's fine to use.
