45% on all cards with a GCN tag will do a serious blow to Nvidia on mantle title

As is always the case, the devil will be in the details, but this is exciting to ponder about.

As a typical pessimistic observer, I get the feeling that the Kavari vs i5 chart is actually hybrid crossfire on Kavari vs discrete on the i5. The vagueness screams to me that it's a typical marketing hype bulletin that has been "legitimately" produced, and deceivingly delivered. Looking at those charts, it's not possible to even know for sure what is being compared. Wonder though about the "uplift" chart, and if that is a result of Mantle perhaps exploiting HSA capabilities.

What will Nvidia do ?

Make all their cards 45% faster , but the same price as the AMD non-Mantle equivalent ?

or 45% cheaper ?

Now when they completely build a game from the get go with mantle in mind I think the faster the card the better it will be just like dx11 is now. Example... Star Citizen will be able to fully utilize the thousands and thousands of draw calls they can now build with.

I think mantle is going to rule, just not in BF4 with the already higher end setups. It's just an opinion biggrin.gif

Remember we have one variable at the moment. Mantle made the APU by itself in bf4 go up 45%. That's it. We just need to see more.

or you could get a card that is 45% worse than a 290, but with Mantle it will be like using a 290.

Just to save some money.

Same hardware - but 45% faster.

But I wonder if all games will be 45% faster, or it just depends ?

launch their own API to optimize dx11? And beat mantle?

Guys, relax. AMD clearly said UP TO 45%. That generally means ~20%. Also, it will probably depend on how well the game is coded.

I agree. It could all be a big hoax by AMD.

And we don't know how good the next Nvidia cards will be. They will have to pull something off to compete though
post #20 of 44
The benefit of an API like this, is the potential to reduce the number of side-ports/back-ports required by developers for different platforms. As long as this doesn't work on NV hardware, it is self defeating.
