I'm sure they could be re-written but it is doubtful that anyone will do it as most of the mining market is geared towards ASIC miners and AMD GPUs using OpenCL.

I don't see why not, lots of 780 owners, be a good market.

Still not big enough for them to make one themselves to push sales of the cards. You will see more PrimeCoin derivatives than you will see CUDA-based coins.
