Newegg disgusts me if they're really trying to trick people who don't know the MSRP of cards by saying a card is "x% off", then again this doesn't surprise me at all, they've always been doing that. It's more like "x% off our gouging".

R9 270X is so gouged these days. It was $210 or so, then $220 , then $250...some are $300 now which is insane.

Anything more than $240 is ludicrous for a $180 MSRP R9 270.

At the current hashrates it'd make a little less than half a R9 290 or R9 290X, which means the Powercolor R9 290X is a better deal

Your ROI date is already far in the future, with R9 270 / R9 270X. If you have four or six of them, it's not like you can quadfire them.
Those msi 290 prices biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif
1x 290 - 800~900kh/s $600 - 300~320+watts - 1x8+6pin pci-e /ea
1x 290x - 850~900kh/s $600 - 320~350+watts - 1x8+6pin pci-e /ea
2x 270 - 940kh/s $540 - 280watts 1x6pin pci-e/ea

a 290 will never be better or as efficient was 2 270s tongue.gif even at $270. For massive farms with 100+ gpu or 50+ rigs then sure, a pci-e slot will be more valued with a 290 sitting in it, of course at that level it is a whole different story
These past few weeks I've received a variety of the 270's and 270x's, didn't pay over $240 for any of them

The amount of heat a 290 produces is ridiculous when you compare it to the 270. The only runner up is Tahiti XTL ( the new 280x's) which draw a bit north of 250watts.

Archie and Hulk, and anyone else who wants to add in: I recently bought my ASUS DCUii, and it is a dog overclocker. Now, it does run at 1050 core and 1350 mem already, but if I even push the mem to 1425 or the core to 1125 (even overvolting with Asus aiTweaker to 1280) , it constantly crashes the card. I bought this one because I heard the temps were good with this card, and they seem to be, but also because EK is releasing a custom-tooled waterblock for it.

But about the memory and core instability, what would you do? RMA the card, get something different, or just leave at stock?

Try using Afterburner beta version. I have my core clock @ 970 but my memory clock all the way up to 1500mhz, 6000mhz effective mem clock, and it's completely stable. Then I switch over to Asus GPU Tweak and I can't even hit 5500mhz effective memory clock without it becoming unstable. I don't think all the overclocking utilities have proper support fixed in with the R9s quite yet.

RMA a card for bad overclocking is shady. The card runs as advertised. You just got a bad clocker.
