I highly doubt even that. Again, I tried GPU Tweak and a couple other overclockers which names elude me in hopes of pushing higher memory clocks, but non of them were stable past 1375mhz, 5500mhz effective. MSI Afterburner Beta is pushing up to 1625mhz without any issues, yet these others can't even come to 1500mhz which with MSI i've been running 24/7 for mining. I would have just stuck with Afterburner but peak allowance is 1625MHz, while GPU Tweak allows up to 8000mhz effective clock, or 2000mhz mem clock.

I have a feeling he's experiencing similar issues.

I bought this one because I heard the temps were good with this card, and they seem to be, but also because EK is releasing a custom-tooled waterblock for it.

But about the memory and core instability, what would you do? RMA the card, get something different, or just leave at stock?
I don't think trying different versions of catalyst will do anything for overclocking, maybe fps, but a bad card is a bad card. If you think you can get away with RMAing it, then do it, but in most cases you are either going to have to pay a restocking fee to return it or you are stuck with a bad card. Watercooling might improve overclocking, but I doubt it.

What are you using to overclock? catalyst? Trixx? MSI afterburner? Try using MSI or Trixx. If you know how to flash a bios switch over to sapphire's Tri-x bios, but I'm not sure how capable the DCUii is with bios switching considering it's not a reference card; I know the Tri-x has room for a custom bios. There's some risks involved with flashing a bios, so take time and learn how to do it properly.

What are your VRM1 &2 temps? Gpu-Z shows vrm temps assuming your text isn't overscaled. Your core temp might not be an issue but vrm 1 might, in which case watercooling would benefit your overclocking.

I get a stable 1150/1500 OC with my Tri-x with a +75 mv and +25% power increase. I haven't at all played around with my overclocks, but getting it that high was a breeze for my card.

Cravin, I am obviously conflicted about what to do. I have MSI afterburner ready to install to test it out. I will report back with what I find, and hopefully EK will release that block for it soon.

I'm wondering if the market is starting to mellow out? I've been noticing several ebay auctions for cards (reference to modified coolers) selling for fairly close to retail over the last few days.

I'm hoping this is a trend and we'll start to see some normalization soon. I'd like to score a card before month's end.

No-go with Afterburner either, guys. If I slide the memory clock over to even 1400, it immediately crashes the card when I hit apply and my screen goes black. I have waited for 5-10 minutes to make sure it isn't just a weird driver crash, but nothing... My only option is a hard-reboot.

In gpu-z i have vrm 1 and 2 temps of 28 and 31, respectively, at idle, and 81 and 67 at full load, at 1050/1350 (stock for this card).

All-in-all I'm just gonna stick with it despite the weirdness. My plan is to put my chip and card in a Hadron Hydro, with a small EK res/D5, a 240mm radiator, and blocks on gpu/cpu. I have heard conflicting reports of the 290x fitting, but I'm sure it would with a bit of finicking.

I wish just once I could get a golden-anything though. I have a corsair vengeance memory set I rma'd 2 times in a row for some sort of defect (1600 mhz 1.5v 2 x 4gb, not anything crazy, and the set they sent me for the first RMA did the same thing, but only with one of the sticks of DDR), I had a bad OCZ ModXtreme 750watt I had to replace because OCZ insisted nothing was wrong with it, I originally went against you fella's better judgment and bought a MSI Gaming 290x and it hits 87c in FarCry 3 with no overclock (returned and replaced with this card that wont take a 50mhz memory overclock), and my 3570k crashes with 4.4 ghz @ 1.32v @ 60-ish celcius after 20 minutes of prime95.

Don't use ebay to price check against the normal market

You will hate me, but don't expect to see price drop any time soon.

Tigerdirect has sold through 500+ cards this past 10 days and out of those cards they sold ~msrp they have no increased the price from $25-75 on all models.

Your best bet is a local shop that hasn't been raided by people who mine cryptocurrency. The new trend is price increase frown.gif

If you are worried about paying a premium, then order from a online distributor like shopblt.com and you will pay ~msrp at the cost of waiting the weeks-months. Beats waiting for newegg to drop prices

Bump power modifier up to 20%. or 120% whichever it uses. Then try and overclock the memory again.

iirc powertune will only increase his max tdp and not modify the actual voltage to stabilize the overclock. powertune would help if his card was throttling the core under load and needed that juice

seems my asus 290x can do those clocks under load but will crash idle on the desktop. maybe +5mV would stabilize his oc maybe +15mV

He was overclocking the memory, unless a newer version of Afterburner has released without my knowledge it doesn't have memory Voltage control

from what i understand is he wouldn't need to bump the mV up on the memory controller. i think memory would need to be touched if he is trying to break 2000mhz ground
even on my asus a +5mV bump on core voltage allowed the 1500mhz memory overclock to stabilize

weird, but meh

seems every asus dcuii custom pcb board has been complete trash smile.gif Guaranteed elpida, guaranteed bad overclockers. asus really took the cheap route on this card, i wouldn't even consider putting a waterblock on mine anymore, wasn't even worthy of sitting inside my main rig anymore biggrin.gif
