My friend has evga acx and 1300 MHz is 24/7 at 1.21v which is max allowed with stock BIOS. He has like ~80% asic which is fairly good. 1200-1250MHz for the average GTX 780.

you prolly need 1450MHz on the core and it will but you'll prolly have to replace the bios.

I stand wrong then, R9 290x is marginally faster. Looks like both camps seem to say their card is faster. I'll get my card around next week so I will check this out with my own number tongue.gif

that 1300 is 1200 (maybe lower) on a 290 not the 290X. ask the 780 club members what the prevalent 7/24 clocks. 1200.

you need sk3net bios. better research now. you may have to hand over your 780 to FTW420.

I was a big AMD fan and was planning to grab a R9 290 but I am settling down on a gtx 780 classified hydro copper. For the same price I get a card that can overclock to the sky and is watercooled! True audio isn't very appealing for me so I think this question is a personal preference.

The entire point of Mantle was to push forward the way games interact with hardware, and set a new standard. NVidia's solution to Mantle was to add an ARM cpu onto the VGA to eliminate overhead. Microsoft and Khronos Group's answer was to play copy cat with DX12 and OpenGL7.

It may be doomed or it may not be, but it seems like for now AMD is leading the innovation game.

The ONLY time i think something like this will be possible is if AMD and Nvidia agree to standardize some stuff that would make the developers able to code more optimally like they would actual hardware. With that, i can see a 2-3x gain TOPS.

It's not really 7-15x a performance increase but holy **** am I excited for this. Mantle is getting a lot of support from other games, and it's going to end up happening sooner than OGL. Mantle is going to be a nice feature to have for the next 2 or 3 years, maybe more if it evolves as time goes on and then ultimately getting replaced by OGL. Since AMD is backing OGL despite working on mantle, I really think we'll see some pretty big improvements either way, it's a win win for gamers. Mantle isn't currently worth buying a GPU from AMD over Nvidia, it might not ever be, or it might at some point, but mantle is by no means dead.

I just hope TrueAudio takes off personally, there will always be some new super-feature for graphics but we haven't seen any serious innovation in the audio market in... well, around a decade. XD
