The Silverstone SG09 is smaller and it can house M-ATX. The 250D seems like it's abnormally big for its form factor just like the 350D was. Looks good though.

No it's not, it's ~20% smaller:

250D: 290mm x 277mm x 351.2mm, 28 liters
SG09: 295 mm x 222 mm x 354 mm, 23 liters

...which of course only adds further support for your point.

An upright motherboard would've made more sense imo, and this case shouldn't have been much wider than 150mm of the powersupply's width...
