[TTS]Corsair announces its new Obsidian Series 250D - Page 7

It's smaller than the Prodigy but it loses out on fan mounts.

200mm front (terrible pressure) /140mm included
120mm x2 side
80mm x2 rear <-- an issue for silence , they might have been able to slip in 92mm here but I can't be certain
Top could have had fan/rad mounts and there's unused space next to PSU likely due to the 240 rad mount.

Plus for those of you comparing to SG09 and Node 304 those don't have full size 5.25" bay (which won't matter for people that use CLC but does matter for fan controller and "real water"...ironic) and the volume likely doesn't include feet that corsair's dimensions likely includes.

Of those with a 5.25" bay like the Lian LI TU200 I don't believe it has support for a 240 radiator.

An odd design choice is hyping Corsair CLC for CPUs, CPUs are nowhere close to the thermal load of GPUs these days. The 250D could probably use the 240 rad for GPU and a 140mm rad for CPU. If you had a mesh top panel with a rad on top for CPU it'd be more useful than a window (IMO) and improve airflow. The issue is NZXT is the one with a CLC GPU bracket and that bracket probably might not work with the side panel on the 250D

A 10L case like the SG05 doesn't support a 240 rad or a full 5.25" bay , let alone an ATX PSU, so you can't compare it to that.

At 15L I've seen the SG08 hold a 240 rad with VERY tight clearance: http://www.overclock.net/t/1340601/sg08-watercooled-280-mm-radiator

At 18L you have the Hadron Hydro with a weird PSU type (Flex ATX) & Slim DVD. It does fit a 240 rad. (http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=2071029)

EDIT: It's simply Corsair has not gone "all in" yet. This is likely a case to test the waters like the Obsidian 800D (their first case ever). Their next smallest case is the mATX Obsidian 350D (41L is supposedly a bit big for mATX, you can do it in ~25L with SG09/SG10 but those have 92mm fans so realistically something like the Bitfenix Phenom M / Colossus M at 30L or BItfenix Prodigy M/ Cooler master N200 ~35L) and the ATX Carbide 200R (~45L).

Great looks and design overall IMO!

I was waiting to see what this case brought to the table, but the FT03 is more unique for this form factor and will remain my top choice.

I like it, it looks clean. Costs Corsair money of course. Budget price they can't keep up with BitFenix and their cool ITX cases.

That GPU looks a little tight. Does anyone think it will fit a thicker card like my MSI 780 Lightning?

That was a concern of mine too. I have an ASUS GTX 460 and it's not the slimmest card out there.

Is there a spec for GPU thickness that this case can take?

Well.. An itx 350d version might have been better.

For a vid see this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxaJVRayA8M
Notice how close the fans are to touching the motherboard's daughterboard.

Yeah, it looks like it's another Corsair product designed to try and keep you using only other Corsair products (like their Vengeance RAM with overly tall heatspreaders). It's disappointing that it looks like it was designed only with the H100i in mind when some people might want to do a custom loop or get a better CLC like the Glacer 240L or get a competing CLC like the Water 2.0/3.0 Extreme or TD02. And you can't really fit any worthwhile air cooling in it either.

I was hoping to see something like a more water cooling friendly Lian Li PC-Q35 or PC-Q25.

Wow so you cant fit the Water 2.0 in there for sure? This case is looking worse and worse :/

Edit: at second glance at the video it looks like the Water 2.0 is a possibility as long as you use slim fans.
