How to wire a Lamptron Latching switch?

Thread Starter
I have asked a similar question before, but that was for a different switch, and didn;t get much help.

I received help from a friend, but the switch ended up not working, it was on all the time.

Context:

I have a 20 x 2pin LED station that is powered with a 4pin Molex. The idea, as shown in the image, is to connect it using a Molex extension to the power supply. Therefore I need to wire the switch into the Molex extension.

I believe I know some basics, I can solder, strip wires and all that physical stuff. I just need help because the provided diagram means nothing to me.

This is what I thought, but it doesn't work:

Would somebody be able to explain which wire goes where?

Cheers

In order for it to control the board, you will need the switch to connect and disconnect power. You also will need to answer whether you want the switch's LED to be on all the time, or only when it's pressed.

1. On your molex extension, cut the yellow (+12v) wire where you want the switch to be installed.
2. Strip and solder the ends of the yellow wires to the "always off line in" and "normally open and close public line out".

This will give you control of 12v power to the device.

To wire the LED to be always on when the PSU is on:
1. Peel a small amount of insulation from the black (-12v) wire and solder it to the "12 volt LED power line out".
2. Strip a small piece of wire and connect it from the yellow wire attached to the power supply side of the switch to the "12 volt LED power line in".

To wire the LED to be on only when the switch is on:
1. Peel a small amount of insulation from the black (-12v) wire and solder it to the "12 volt LED power line out".
2. Strip a small piece of wire and connect it from the yellow wire attached to the board side of the switch to the "12 volt LED power line in".

Thank you.

Part 1 done, the switch works, in the end it was so simple!!!

Part 2:

I think I understand, is it like this?

If this is right, do I just leave the other half unconnected?

Thank you. I have the first part done and it works..So much more simple than I expected!!

I think I understand how to wire the LED. Is this right?

Do I just leave the other half of the black wire disconnected. And does it matter which black wire I use?

Ok worked it out.

For anyone else who needs help with this switch, the last diagram I posted is correct.

Sorry, left out one minor detail. Where I said to peel a small amount of insulation from the -12v black wire, I meant to do it in the middle of the wire, at a location where it would align with the pin on the switch. (not sure where my head went at the time of writing) Alternatively, just cut the black wire, strip 3/16" of insulation off both ends, twist them together and solder to the pin. The black wire goes all the way through.
