CPU upgrade suggestion

Hello, I bought a i3 3220 cpu along with a 7850 gpu 9 monthes ago, and I usually like to play games which are mostly CPU intensive, high resolutions and AA filters doesn't talk to me to much, I play MMO's and I was wondering if it is a wise move to get an i5 3470 as I don't have MB to overclock.

so basiclly how much difference I would see in MMORPG's and CPU intensive games with a i5 3470 together with HD 7850?
thanks in advance

I say not much if any. The i3 is really a great gaming processor, especially if you're running only 1 GPU. If you don't have the capability to jump up to a 3570K or a 3770K, I say the upgrade is pointless unless you're just looking to spend some money. I highly doubt you will notice any jump in performance.

don't even bother

It is really disappointing to not have a jump in performance in heavy CPU games, because this is what I play most, where the grahpic card isnt even pushed to the max I thought a better CPU would give me extra performance, oh well
thanks for replies!

I mean, the games I play aren't even pushing my GPU to the max, I usually don't play on 1080p, because not needed for my games, such as MMORPG's and CS:GO, I like them better on 720p in order to have as much performance as possible, the only time I play on 1080p is when playing single player on high-end games like battlefield and COD

So I thought I could get more FPS with a better CPU on those games and resolutions

For 1080p and an i3 the maximum video card is the r9 270(x)/hd 7870/hd 7870 xt,more will be a bottlenecked caused by the cpu.if you buy an i5/i7 you could buy a 290/780/280x/770 without bottleneck

For 720p a 7850 is enough

another factor that helps with mmo's is cpu speed, for ex on FF14 i was getting a 30 fps drop from my cpu running at 3.4ghz compared to running at 4.4 ghz but didn't gain mch over 4.2 or 4.3. note 2 this was only in areas that were heavily populated in areas where not many if any were around i didn't get much of a fps boost over stock.

on that note you can try ocing a little increasing the blk from 100 to 103 or 106.

106 will give you about 3.48ghz
and 103 will give you 3.39ghz
not much of an increase but may help.
