Overclocking FX 6300 help

Thread Starter
Hey all, I recently got an FX 6300 for a great deal and I want to overclock it...but Ive never overclocked anything before. I have the MSI 970A-G46 Motherboard so its got the fancy new bios as well as overclock genie II which I used to give myself a stock overclock of 3.75ghz. I also have a thermaltake water 2.0 120mm radiator cooler which gives me idle temps of 7° Celsius. Ive got 4gb of kingston hyperx blu (I know lame) RAM clocked at 1333mhz but OC genie overclocked it to 1600. Basicly everywhere Ive looked has just had temp problems and stuff So if anyone out there has that BIOS and has OCed with it I could really use some help. thumbsupsmiley.png

http://www.overclock.net/t/1348623/amd-bulldozer-and-piledriver-overclocking-guide-asus-motherboard Try here first then feel free to ask questions. Your 4+1 vrm board will overclock that chip to 4.5 pretty easy..just watch core [package] temp as you begin your oc thumb.gif keep below 62c @ load is good advise. biggrin.gif Use bios for overclocking.

I'd check on that. How do you get 44.7°F (7°C) unless your computer is in a refrigerator?
Idle temps are useless anyway, since you'll be generating the heat load you need to dissipate at a full load condition.

I, and many others, would advise staying away from anything that does "automatic" overclocking. As for overclocking a 6300, with a slight Vcore bump and a multiplier change you should be able to get to 4.5 ghz easily.
