Is Battlefeild 4 worth it? - Page 2

Yes.

But if I were you I'd wait a couple more patches, the netcode is DICE's #1 priority at the moment.

At its core Battlefield 4 is one of the best Battlefield games IMO.

I've been playing for a week now and am having a lot of fun. To be honest I'm not sure what the big fuss is about, I haven't noticed many technical issues.

As a Battlefield fan since 2142, I don't like 4. It's become extremely twitch-based, much in the same vain as CoD. Battlefield was never the pinnacle of realism, but it was "slow" enough that it lent itself well to people who wanted a more honest experience of soldiering, than Call of Duty were people run 46miles an hour and lob an M67 across a football field, and cannot magically increase their clip size, or get magic buffs to reload their gun in 0.6 seconds.

Battlefield 3 was a far superior game in terms of it's actual gameplay in my opinion, unfortunately, the animations in BF3 were god awful, and the profile of the soliders was a weird, rigid rectangle...

Battlefield 4's main improvement is the animations which look far more natural, and the graphics system is quite a bit better. However, at least for me, the new gun mechanic/gun physics model was extremely difficult to learn...and for about a week I could not hit anything that was more than 20meters away. Add that to the fact that, like I say, the game is much faster now, and I only play hardcore cause I don't want to load someone with 15 45calibur rounds before they drop, and I'm not more suprised more BF fans didn't drop out on 4.

I love BF4 as game play goes but I'm having tons of issues with my settings being reset every time I start the game and my single player saves resetting also. Other than having to reconfigure my video, game play, and key bindings settings every time I start a new game, it's great! rolleyes.gif

How can anyone say a simple MP pvp shooter is worth it?
Anyone who does has clearly never experienced a game with actual content and substance.

The answer is no. If you're into shooters, and want something to test your PC, go for Metro Last Light and perhaps ArmA 3.
Otherwise, I have plethora of RPG's I could recommend.

@ OP

BF4 has its problems but when it works it is great.

Erm.. The person is asking about BF4, not any other games. Did it occur to you that maybe this person doesn't have the same preference as you do? You're kind of forcing your personal bias onto them.

On-topic, it's really hard to say. Some people still experience major issues such as crashing, others don't experience them anymore and some hardly experienced them in the first place. The game is shaping up, although it does have some issues. I've personally put just under 110 hours into the game so far so I can say I've gotten my money's worth out of it, although throughout the next few years I'll probably get a lot more out of it. It's definitely a very fun game (IMO) and there's a lot of potential there. If you see a good deal, I'd say jump on it. If you're aware of the risk that it may have issues for you but you're okay with that and know you'll get many more hours out of down the road, I'd say it's worth it. Otherwise, you may want to wait it out until the game is in a better state and you never know, around that time a premium edition might be out in which you'll be able to get both the game and premium for $60.
