Is Battlefeild 4 worth it? - Page 3

Not worth it, get BF3.

For full price? No. On sale? Definitely. They've gotten some of the major issues fixed like the servers dropping in and out, reactive armor not working, getting stuck in the revive screen while in the menu, sound looping, the VERY annoying EMP blur effect getting stuck, and nearly have the OHK bug fixed, but it still happens from time to time. Crosshairs still disappear for no reason and hit markers have the habit of not showing sometimes when you're obviously getting shots, but it's still fun casually or pubbing. Random frame drops are still common for some people as well, but still fun none the less. Unfortunately it's not too great on the competitive side, though it'll eventually get "patched to perfection", just like BF3. tongue.gif

While it may look better, it's horrible. Technical gripes aside, this is my one gameplay gripe. Vaulting over things that don't need to be vaulted over, getting stuck on something like a stick on the ground and nonsense like that.

I figured the notion of a game with actual substance and depth would confuse the average user here, it's okay though. Branch out a bit and then you'll understand what I meant.

I know it's about BF4. I said it's not worth it, but gave him two games to check out instead since he shows interest in shooters and mentioned wanting to test out his PC. Am I not allowed to have a negative opinion about a Battlefield game? It seems everyone who says BF is awesome gets cheered on, yet those who have good taste in games and say they don't like BF get responses like "*** MAN???" "YOU MUST NOT HAVE PLAYED IT U ONLY LIKE COD I GUESS".

Not to mention, BF4 is also a very poor benchmark due to how horribly unstable and unoptimized it is.

I see it a lot, people new to PC Gaming(even not new) are so consumed by casual MP PvP shooters that they don't even realize there are other genres out there, that they will almost always like more. That's why I also mentioned I could list him some RPGs, which is the superior genre.

I like both shooters and RPG's. im already a huge fan of games like mass effect and skyrim, but this is the game that i want to play with my friends. Up until this year the game i played with friends was COD, but once i got a PC i got into BF3 and really enjoyed it. Im gonna buy titanfall when it releases and play that and ESO as my main games, and i wanted to know if this is worth the money until then. No need to be an elitest

If you liked bf3, and didnt mind the flaws of that game, it is worth it
For me, as old bf3 competitive player (played 5v5 with some top eu organisations) the flaws of bf3 got way too big and i got really fed up with it, and i wouldnt even consider buying bf4, they fixed nothing for it.

After the New Nvidia driver put out yesterday I have gotten a very nice performance boost and the game does seem to be running smoother thumb.gif I would say yes it's worth it.

I would vote yes as I have been having a ton of fun and have about 80 hours in. Got it during christmas when it was 30$ but probably would pay full price seeing as there are no sales that we should be expecting.

Not to come across as a fan boy but one thing I have noticed is that Nvidia GPU's tend to crash a lot more than AMD GPU's. I have been playing with a group of 10-12 people on a regular basis and the Nvidia users seem to have way more problems.

Personally running a 7950 I have had 2 crashes that were not server side and both were directx errors so theres that too.

If you have a group of friends to play with I would say that it is a no brainer, if not look up the BF4 thread on here and make some friends from OCN.
