Is Battlefeild 4 worth it? - Page 6

I just got BF4 just over a week ago. I have had only a few issues with a crash on my end. Something about a DirectX problem. I was an avid BF:BC2 and BF3 player with a gaming clan. Still play it. Made several friends there and here on OCN as well in the game. Alot of those same people now also play BF4 and the gameplay is so much fun! Trash talk, pokes at their piss poor abilities, working together or against each other, its a blast. I spend most of my evenings in one of my favorite clan servers trying to see through the tears because I am laughing so much at what is happening. Yes the game still has some issues. But thats to be expected from any game. Hell, World of Warcraft still has issues.

Is it worth it? Well that depends on whether or not MP FPS are what you are into. Personally, Get one of the BF3 or BF:BC2 on the cheap first and try them out to see if you enjoy the FPS world before spending $50(Base game)-$100(with Premium) on a game that you are not going to enjoy.

Judging by your post, I'll take a guess and say you've never played an RPG, or if you have, it completely overwhelmed you and you went back to playing the most simple form of gaming, PvP shooters.
Some of us have the attention span and choose to play RPGs or other genres that require thought.

But yeah, your insult really hurt me. thumb.gif

To make this a little less offtopic, a non-opinion based answer would still be no because Battlefield 4 is stricken with issues for people that can render it completely unplayable. Why spend money on something that doesn't work?

I would say it depends. It's worth it if you a) like shooters and b) can get in a good squad or play with a group of friends. Playing it alone can be pretty boring I've found, especially if your squad is just sitting back doing nothing, which can sometimes even be the entire team.

To be honest, I haven't touched the game in a couple of weeks, mostly due to picking up DayZ. If you can grab BF4 on sale I would say go for it, otherwise the full retail asking price is a bit much unless you know you can get friends together.

There were still dedicated servers up until MW2. CoD 3 was never released on PC, I believe. But yes, once those servers were removed it took away the best thing about CoD, the community, ranking ladders like TWL, and really hurt a lot of clans.

Get BF2 and Rising Storm instead, the latter is only $20, has way more content, and it's not a dumbed down console game like BF4 is. It's everything Battlefield should be and much more. Also check out Natural Selection 2. Get some PC games instead of console games for that new PC. thumb.gif

I have to disagree.

The squad based VOIP in BF4 has made many fun games for me working together with people. I also experience nearly zero bugs now apart from the odd netcode issues.

The funny thing about the VOIP built in is I find most people don't know it exists. Most games where I get good squadwork the people end up asking how I am talking. Then they almost always get on the MIC and say they didn't know BF4 had it.

Not sure what your talking about the game play's fine for me! A couple of minor glitches here and there but for a 2 month old game is play's pretty well. I would have more problems than anyone. Because I play at 5670x1080. Nvidia surround in sli. I would glitch more and it's to be expected.

But you come in this thread and pretty much say that anyone that plays FPS don't know what a gaming is. I'm not in to RPG and MMO style games. I have tried a few to me the action is not fast enough and I end up getting bored. I like Fps games because there is always action. So the question was is the game worth it and I say Yes it is. Because that the style I play and the game is not that bad as far as the problems is has. The game is still young and improving quickly. thumb.gif

Yes it's definitely worth it. And it's been rock stable for the last month for me and my friends. All of us were having huge crashing issues and now they've been resolved.

I didn't say you don't know what gaming is. But you definitely don't have a clue what you're missing. RPG is the superior genre, even if you don't like RPGs.
You can't tell me a game with, branching dialogue and storylines, massive amounts of content, highly detailed worlds, and unparalleled character development is some how inferior to a simple PvP game where you just shoot people on the other team.

It's fine if you like that more, RPGs are often too complex for some people. Some people just don't like having to do all that reading. Some people just don't like leveling up their character. There's various reasons why someone may not like an RPG, but I can still say it's the superior genre, because it is. That's not to say all multiplayer games are bad. I like quite a few. I'm a big fan of Killing Floor, which is probably the most simple game I can think of, minus sidescrollers and 2D games. thumb.gif

Some things are facts, others are opinions. Your opinion may be that you don't like RPGs, but that doesn't change the fact that RPGs are the superior genre.

I also don't like MMO games.

Anyway, I hope that clarified what I meant. I'm not trying to insult you or the other players of MP shooters, I just often find it necessary to show people that there are other games out there, and to give another genre a chance because half the times it seems people only think that CoD and BF exist, oh and Titanfall. That's the only other game that exists. rolleyes.gif

If one doesn't like RPGs, it ceases to be the superior genre.

No, it becomes a genre THEY don't like.

I think the worth of BF4 is if you are into PvP or not. While I enjoy some PvP occasionally I find that I usually prefer solo or coop play. With that in mind Borderlands 2 is a great game for the coop and for solo I like Bioshock Infinite for my FPS fixes.
