Not really depends on a lot of factors. I would guess that an 8k display being shown off at CES would be using something like OLED which wouldn't use too much power at all. Now if 8K wasn't using OLED well its a waste then.

Honestly I think we are going to have moves shot in 8k far sooner then 8k TV's to watch them on. Like I said in my very first post. I think 8k will be stuck for a long time in niche markets like IMAX.

I'd be willing to bet we will hear about 8k filming in the next years once 4K TV's and media take off.

Why you wouldn't even need to tell your women to get naked. Just turn on the surround sound. That in itself pays for the system.

I'm sure you could just switch to 7.1 or other configurations. But think about it though. If you have a 22 speaker setup it will be in a dedicated theater and costing over 100k. This isn't going to be your typical setup.

7.1 is still surround, for most things i prefer a simple 2.1 system. especially music and tv

Yes this is why i stated or other configurations. And come on you don't like watching diners drives and dives in surround? That grease frying makes it sound like your in the fryer!

i don't watch that show ha, but i feel like surround sound is generally more annoying than appealing. even for movies, unless it's an action movie, it's probably going to make the audio sound weird

1080p and 60fps needs a 660Ti for all (most) games at max bling bling

1440p already needs a 780Ti

4K is 4x 1080p (in terms of stuff to be calculated)

8K is 16x 1080p (calculating stuff)

So yeah... even WHEN you buy a 46584135468415864635215643521645135215645631 dollar 8K TV, you still need like.... much more to control it biggrin.gif

And then again... imagine every pixel on your screen is 1mm, that means 1920x1080 is a screen of +- 2m on 1m

I find that still good enough wink.gif

In a zillion years when 8K is mainstream.... yeah.... by then it's virtual reality or augmented reality or something...

You got multidirectional speakers like this

And omni directional speakers like this

There are also thees virtual surround speaker bars that attempt to create surround sound by bouncing the sound of the walls. (though thees system suck tongue.gif )

I'm just thinking there is got to be a better way to do it besides scattering 20 individual speaker cabinets around a room.

Actually the best way to do is to just use the walls themselves as speakers. You integrate over the area of the room for sound distribution instead of having point speakers, which means you get true surround sound without a ridiculously ugly and overcomplicated system of speakers like the ones in your images.
