[Solved] Will a 6 year old Megahalems cooler fit my new 1150 socket?

Can't believe I didn't think of this earlier, but I'm about to upgrade from a Q9550 (LGA 775) to a i7-4770K, and it didn't even occur to me that my old Megahalems which I had planned to just swap over might not fit. Is the heat sink mounting for the 775 and the 1150 compatible / identical, or am I potentially going to need to scramble to get a new heat sink or some kind of adapter?

Thanks.

1155 will fit 1150. If you still got the various adapter stuff that came with the kit it might. gotta know the actual model to be sure.

My 775 stock intel cooler wont fit on my 1155 motherboard. So you may need different mounting hardware considering youre coming from 775

Luckily, I'm one of those people who save the boxes for just about everything I buy... The actual model is the Megahalems Rev. B. The box says its compatible with 775, 1366, and 1156. It didn't come with much in the way of adapters.

This is concerning, considering that I don't know anywhere locally that sells this items anymore, so I doubt I'd be able to get an adapter kit easily...

gnurr, I dunno if 1156 will work or not... Looks like its a spring based system so it's not dependent on cpu height. IIRC the difference between 1155 and 1156 is the thickness of the chip.

if the holes are the same you can probably do it. I think I'll go with an encouraging maybe.

It will, I have the same adapter on my 1155 board and it fits snugly.

It should fit.. Rev B supports 1156 which is the same dimensions as 1155 and 1150
also Rev B on the site states 1155 support
