Doesn't really matter much. Most games are made for consoles, so the majority of games will be using the same dx level in xbox one and equivalent for the ps4. Think DX9 and DX10.

I wonder if DX12 will come out with windows Midori, yes i know its not a thing yet but a man can dream, i mean a new OS from the ground up with a (hopefully) highly advanced DX12 API sounds like a dream.

And to you guys arguing about Mantle would it kill you to wait till we see some real results (Our first hand results), if DICE ends up delaying it further we will still have the OXIDE Nitrous demo to mess around with, it was announced to be coming out this month.

DX12 is cool and all, but how many cards in the wild support it? Zero. Also, some of the mouthbreathing Nvidia folk are netting me some good returns on the ol' block list.

Is Mantle good for AMD? Yes, obviously. Is Mantle good for Nvidia? Yes, it will force them to optimize and innovate. Is that good for consumers? Heck yeah!

Anyone calling any innovation a bad thing better go back to using a Pentium 4, cause that's what happens when innovation and competition go stagnant.

Yeah, actually. There is demand for it from developers (DICE primarily) and there's an official AMD slide floating around in regards to Mantle working on Linux (it's not a huge slide but it is a bullet point).

The biggest deal with Mantle is that it moves support for the API from the operating system to the drivers. Meaning that AMD and whoever else wants to support Mantle are free to do it in their drivers as long as they adhere to standards.

DX11.1 and DX11.2 have even slower adoption rates than Mantle so far. I doubt DX12 will make a big splash, if only because devs won't use it at all until years after its release
