Need suggestion- 3570k, or 3770k?

Thread Starter
I went ahead and tried delidding my 3570k, and while the chip works, it only works in single channel mode. I will try booting with a second stick once more before I go out and buy a new CPU, but if it doesn't work, I am not sure if I should go for the higher end CPU, or just get a replacement...

Microcenter has the 3570k and 3770k for $190 and $250, respectively. I'd have to drive to Boston, but it'd still end up cheaper than buying from any online retailer. Will a 3770k ever have an edge in gaming over the 3570k?

You get a few more frames with a i7 and only reason a i7 would be better is if that game has ht app plications so bottomline its if you want that 3-5 more fps and epping rights. If not i5 will fit your gaming needs

Well, I can save money, and probably get the same OC I've got now with the 3570k...though, this will likely be the last upgrade I make to the 1155 setup, so it might make sense to go out with a bang, and then replace the whole thing in a year with a new platform......blah! thanks for making some good points.

If you plan on upgrading next year you might as well save some money with the 3570k. If your going to keep it awhile IMO go with the 3770k. It is slightly faster overall and has the extra 4 threads on hyper which may come into play sometime in the near future. Just an opinion.
