Sounds like you have a lot of head room for more overclocking. thumb.gif

what kind of motherboard do you have? Gigabyte, Asus, MSI?

With my Gigabyte board.. overclocking is REALLY easy.. and the FX6300 itself is VERY easily OC'd.. I don't know everything there is to know about overclocking but it is really easy to learn.. your main focus should be on voltages which help you get a stable OC and temps.. which help you make sure your stable OC is within a safe area of operation and you aren't going to melt your chip lol...

me personally.. I have a rare-ish FX-6300.. my VID is lower than most it is 1.238 .. and apparently that gives me the ability to get a higher clock at lower voltages.. right now.. my chip is OC'd to 4.6ghz at 1.32V and runs idle at about 23 degrees Celsius.. if these monitors/sensors are to be believed... and gets to be about 31 degrees C under 100% load.. but I also have a corsair H100i that cools it.. and can adjust the fan speeds to help with cooling..

you should really only mess with overclocking if you have a good cooler.. from what I hear.. some of the better air coolers for the money are things like the Coolermaster 212 evo.. or the NZXT Respire T40.. etc.. but hell.. I bought my H100i brand new for $65 so these AiO closed loop water coolers are a really good place to start.. and later on once you're more comfortable.. and can afford it.. building a custom loop is always an option... (which I plan to get into in a few months)

but for now.. go to google or whatever search engine you may use and google "Overclocking tips" or guide or something.. do a little reading and research here and there... that's how I learned... and a LOT of people own the FX chips.. and all say the same.. they are very easy to OC and get stable.... oh and something I had to learn early on.. it is better to OC from the bios.. don't be fooled by programs like Easytune and such.. its not the same...

a good rule of thumb to remember when over clocking.. try to stay below 1.5V (generally) and keep an eye on the temps.. you wouldnt want temps in the 50s at idle.. bc when you put a load on it.. it will more than likely shoot up into the 60s or even 70s... just remember.. Voltage increase = temp increase.. so sufficient cooling is imperative..

like I said.. I don't know everything.. nor am I a seasoned overclocker.. but I have gotten this chip all the way to 5ghz stable.. so I can help if you need just PM me.. otherwise.. ask around here and browse the forums.. and any other pages like Toms hardware and whatnot.. there is TONS of info out there on this subject.. but the best knowledge is gained by trial and error.. which is exactly what overclocking it.. you have to find the lowest voltage for the clock speed you want.. to be stable..
