FX 6300 Overclock advice - Page 4

ok, I'm gonna overclock now and post the results... first gonna try the 4.2 at 1.35 and 1.39 if it fails... then gonna try 4.4 ghz
post #32 of 52
Here is the list of everything I changed:

Ai Overclock tuner: MANUAL
CPU RATIO: 22.5 (4.5ghz)
Amd Trubo: DISABLED
CPU/NB Freq: 2000Mhz
HT Link Speed: 2400 Mhz
CPU Spread Spectrum: DISABLED
PCIe Spred Spectrum: DISABLED
CPU Load Line Calib: DISABLED (with this Enabled, the temperatures goes too high)
CPU Manual Voltage: I put 1.45 but it goes to 1.404 after saving settings

Advanced tab:
Core C6 State: DISABLED
HPC Mode: Enabled
APM Master Mode: DISABLED
CPU Fan Profile: Turbo

Here is a picture of it 4.5ghz @1.404v on prime95 small fft, the core 5 stopped working in 3 minutes.

Now I will try to increase the CPU Manual Voltage to 1.47v, I think it will go to 1,42 or 1,43 after I Save and restart the PC.

PS: I think I'm having to put higher numbers on the voltage to get lower numbers because the load line calib is disabled, but this way is better, the temperatures are lower.

With LLC disabled you set 1.47V to get 1.42~1.43V, so why don't you try LLC ON and 1.4~1.41V since I know that this boards LLC is such that it will increase the voltage under load by around 0.012V~0.024V. By setting 1.4 you might get 1.392V at idle and 1.404V to 1.416V at idle, that's my observation on these boards. Give it a try.
Don't worry about temps, LLC OFF you set higher Vcore and get low actual Vcore, with LLC ON you can set Vcore to a little bit (~0.012V) lower than what you need and get nearly the same voltage. LLC of will generate a lot of Vdroop which may result in instability and it will also limit your overclock since to get a particular Vcore you need to set your CPU VID at desired Vcore+~0.048 and so you will reach the voltage limits and your voltage will still be lower at load.

Keep North Bridge and Ht @ 2000 until you get a stable over clock to begin with then up these settings last if so desired biggrin.gif

If my overclock is unstable, my PC will crash/bluescreen/freeze... something like that when I play stuff like Battlefield 3, Neverwinter these days right???

The question is... if it's unstable, it will crash a lot of time, or hardly ever? Because I have a feeling that it's stable now

yes, if it is highly unstable.. yes it will crash.. sometimes.. it can be unstable and NOT crash... but only sometimes.. more often than not.. it will BSOD or whatever if its unstable.. run Prime95 or IBT or something .. if it holds up to testing for a few hours or so.. than you're good to go.. otherwise.. keep tweaking voltages and such until you get it right...

It may not crash but other oddities can occur instead.
Such as funny looking textures, geometry, repeating sounds, random drivers and background applications crashing (dwm especially), and etc.
Most of the time, if its unstable enough to bsod, it will actually show the bsod message/codes, unlike with gpus.
