Well, this is very nice someone has finally reviewed it again. Many thanks to you guys, who contacted the anandtech etc...

However "I hope , one time, exusable" doesn't sound soo good for the owners of the bad V300 I think (and I am one of them). I heard some things about the OCZ as mentioned in the article above. Did they replace "poor" drives after all?

I would really write my big "thank you, I am sorry" to Kingston and forgive them only if they take my SSD back and send a good one instead / refund.

Arrrgh....

Wow, I guess I'm really lucky. I got one from Amazon a month or two ago for $60 and it reads and writes as advertised at 450+ write/read.

I hope you guys get it figured out,and hold Kingston accountable.

well even after reading here, i installed this ssd instead of returning it :thumb:because i liked the enclosure that came with the ssd ( stupid me, didnt realize they only cost $7)

my benchmark shows 175 so it is the slower nand, so how much of a real life difference are we talking about by me upgrading to a much faster ssd?

my current boot time is like 23seconds

Hi,

My drive is ~180 MB/s so this is fair enough with this poor version ...
The real life performance - W7 ult 32 bit starts within about 20 seconds, compared to about 45 seconds with old drive on same system (i3-530 4GB RAM and SATA2)

Sadly enough, I trusted Kingston once. Never again.

Nope. You've got a 521. It has asynchronous NAND and your benchmarks confirm it.

Is there anything I can do? I bought this on 10.9.2013. Never bothered to test it before today when I read article about this. 80MB/s for write. This is just utter ****. Why didn't I go for samsung 840? It was maybe 15-20% more expensive...

Spread the word. Tell all your friends, family and coworkers not to buy Kingston products because of their shady business practices.

Now that higher performance 120-128 GB SSDs routinely on sale for $60-70, there is no reason to play the Kingston SSD lottery or support a company that trolls its customers by playing the 'bait and switch' game.

If this was Europe, Kingston would never even think about screwing over customers with EU's strong consumer protection laws.
