PSA About the Kingston V300 SSD(Probable foul play by Kingston) - Page 7

Well in fact I do live in the EU as I'm from Finland. Definitely going to boycott Kingston if I can't get replacement.

I did read topic on finnish forum about new batch being bad after I bought it. That was around the time when they changed from Taiwan to Chinese manufacturer with 506 bios. So mine isn't even from this newest downgrade batch. says assembled in china.

Do you have any friends who happen to be lawyers familiar with EU consumer protection laws?
Because Kingston is most likely to get punished under EU laws when compared to the rest of the world.

Apart from that, I wonder if anyone has run ATTO on a stock V300 with no data written on it. Perhaps ATTO is such a crappy benchmark that even a stock V300 with Asynch NAND can meet the benchmarks that Kingston specifies.

I know I am late, but thanks for the heads up on this! So glad I didn't end up getting this drive. Got a Samsung 840 EVO instead. Best deal ever!

Sorry to those who have this drive. redface.gif

I purchased my Kingston V300 in January for $60. It is the 505 bios model:

My write speed doesnt look that impressive. Read is good.

Your write speed is exactly what it should be for a synchronous 120GB Sandforce drive.

Thanks. I guess that I'm one of the lucky ones.

ATTO itself should be fine, but it uses uncompresed (that is very nicely compressible) data to test. I read that Sandforce controller (used in V300) can play very nice with compressible data, and is really quite good, so they gain the performance lost by async NAND back with the SF.

Therefore, pretty sure it will work at specified speeds in out-of-box state in ATTO smile.gif

Nah, these things really make me sad! Fraud!
