On paper the Alcor appears to be better spec wise but I'm starting to go away from specs and focus more on shape and comfort as long as it has a usable sensor and the Rival 100 looks to have the better shape.

Both have very good shapes. Rival 100 is more rounded and has the better coating + scrollwheel (although Alcor's is good too). Alcor is lighter and slightly bigger, having more height. If you like to support your palm then go with Alcor. If you have a more pure claw grip, then go for Rival 100.
1 diasadvantage on the Alcor imo is the fact that you can't change polling rate.
Alcor can do 400/800 steps whereas on the Rival 100 you should only use 500 cpi(goes in increments of 250). On desktop you can use what you want, but in game 500 performs best.

Got Alcor for $25 today. Damn this mouse feels good. It's like ie3.0 and wmo had a child.
I love shape, coating, sensor placement, buttons and weight. Scroll feels a little bit cheap.
I wish they made Alcor with 3360 and better scroll.

Scroll has alps encoder, which is pretty much one of the best ones out right now (if not the very best). Shouldn't feel cheap tbh.

I know it's alps. I'm talking about scroll wheel and not about encoder.

My bad then.

Agree that it's one of the few shapes that are actually really good. All the classical loved mice do the arc right with enough height and Alcor is no exception. Most 'new' shapes are just idiotic with weird arcs or sides.

My issue is the coating, which prevents me to use it as my daily driver. I would honestly pick it over pretty much everything, if it wasn't for the coating (sweaty hands issue).
Atm im using Artisan Tepekki tape on contact points, which is a temporary fix.

I've thought of that as I've done some mods before. But the top material still sucks for me, so a big part of my palm still touches it. We'll see though.
Are the rubber sides of the Mizar of good quality?
