Is the EVGA gtx 760 acx sc card based of reference design? waterblock question - Page 2

Yeah i had the same trroubles when i decided to buy my cards. I have the evga 2gb gtx 760 reference cooler sc. And i did find some from aquatuning that fit the reference design but i dont know about the acx design. I know ive seen them somewhere but definitely check their website they have a very detailed list. When i get home tonight ill jump into my history and look up what pages i looked at. Alphacool have product list of what cards (with evga part numbers) fit their full coverage blocks. Check out my build log to see photos of the reference designed blocks. And warp prism is right i know that people like heatkiller make a gtx670 block that fits the gtx760 acx style pcb but i didnt look too hard into it as it wasnt reference. Heatkiller now make gtx760 Blocks too. Ill linke more once im home from work

Edit: heres the compatibility list i checked for mine smile.gif http://www.alphacool.com/download/compatibility%20list%20Nvidia.pdf

Awesome thanks, i cant wait to see what else more you can come up with smile.gif

I did see that link you showed me, previously and is the 1 and only block meant for the non-reference design i can find. How well does that stack up against the EK or Heatkillwe blocks though are they inferior in anyway? I do have to say i like the looks of all EK and Heatkillers blocks better then the alphacool block but the alphacool block it made specifically for my card while the other ones aren't, they may fit but from what ive read they're only held on with 4 screws doesn't sit right with me.

Thanks for your time. Im looking forward to what you have to share later.

ive been having a look the past few days and couldnt find much (other than what you already know frown.gif ) everything i found was all for reference. Have you checked out the heatkiller blocks? I know they just released their gtx760 blocks but i dont know if they suit your pcb. I'd send them an email if you like the look of them.

Wow .... that the first non-reference PCB I ever seen on a SC series .... the only thing I saw that was different was "Unlike the NVIDIA reference design, EVGA uses a Richtek RT8802A voltage controller on their card. It is functionally very similar to the controller on the reference design--both do not offer I2C voltage control or advanced monitoring and are cost-effective solutions."

Not quite sure why they would do that as it would appear to be a "six of one half a dozen of the other" kinda choice.

I'd its just a brand name change and size / location is close, I wonder if the controller choice will be of significance.

But if you want i have some high quality pics of the alphacool blocks in my build log but not on the card. Inlcuding a pic of the backplate. Yeah itll be interesting to see what they say. Are the non reference vrm's in the same positions and are they the same size??

@ JackNaylorPEi dont quite understand it either. I know its close enough to beable to bolt on a older 680 from ek but from what ive heard only the 4 main GPU bolt attatch not the rest of the boards scewws, i dont like the idea of that. And i dont like the idea of having only one block in the world it seems available specifically for my card, i hope it isnt a bad performer...

@nathanblandford how to i ge to your log to see the pics, fairly new to the site. thanks

I just looked at your build log and those alphacool blocks look great, i definetly like the shiny plating vs the EK frost effect. I found these on Performace PC and im just going to get the generic EVGA backp;ate that goes with my card.

How do the blocks do performance wise, they do look well built from the pictures thats for sure? but again how are they perforamce wise?

I havent put them on yet because im yet to purchase my rads and cpu block and other parts etc. i havent seen many reviews on them as they are fairly rare but they are copper internals so should be very good compared to other manufacturers. Their nexxxos range is comparable to ek for performance apparently but i wont know until i put them in. If youre in no rush you could wait until i have mine in and running tongue.gif.
