If they can;t do fastere cores the only thing they can do is more of them. the 6 core chips can do 12 threads. Only potentially though. Chips could go in a completely different dirrection too. I am also in the keep the 2600k camp.

Honestly you'll see bigger performance gains from things like SLI and adding an SSD.

2600k even at stock is still beastly. Complete waste to upgrade from it.
